I'd have thought they'd stop things immediately if they'd found a bomb, rather than waiting an hour until 1500h. I presume this is going to be a WWII bomb uncovered by the clearance work on the old industrial estate at Birketweg, but no details yet.

If the bomb has been lying there for sixty years then an extra hour here or there isn't going to make too much difference.

Tell that to the guy that bit it on the A3.

I believe this is the third WWII bomb to have been discovered in this neighbourhood of Munich this year.Munich's resident WWII bomb disposal expert and his little sniffer dog will be along shortly no doubt. Here he is with the find from February:

I work right in the area and Police told us to open all our windows in case they fail to disable it and it blows.
I think there must have been at least 30 Police cars passing by. Anyone knows the exact location?

The police just called to my building near the Hirschgarten in Nympheburg and told us a WW2 bomb had been found in the tunnels at Laim.
Like Calin said, we've been told to open our windows and doors and find a safe place in our homes in case they don't manage to disarm the bomb.
The police are parked right now on Hirschgartenallee blocking the road; Wotanstrasse seems to be blocked as there are cars backed up here.
Not many people on the roads - all a bit creepy!

I think we've just had the all-clear. Police have just driven off. Alles wird gut...

windows may shatter and break, resulting glass may cause problems, this I understand, whats the logic for opening wooden doors? surely that would absorb some of the blast if a bomb goes off. keep it open and the shockwaves are welcomed straight in, innit?
calin
by no means an expert here, I'd say that opening the doors/windows would allow the pressure of the air inside the house to catch up with the outside pressure much faster. So the windows would remain intact. Wherever shockwaves would be a problem, the whole area should be first evacuated.

Oh my, getting home yesterday was awful. I work at hackerbrücke and it was packed. Walked to the tram, packed. I had to let 3 trams pass before I even had a small chance at getting in one.
