What do you mean by "decent"? Surely any department store has good ones, eg. Karstadt or Kaufhof.

Unicef. nice cards, reasonably priced (come in boxes of 10 I think), and it's all in a good cause!

By decent I mean regular cards that open and close where an envelope is normally supplied. I have checked Karstadt and Kaufhof but to no avail. Both stores had the same answer "you need to go to a card shop". Does anyone know where there is a card shop in Mitte. Unicef is a good idea but do regular cards not exist off the shelve or do I have to resort to a Christmas postcard. Any further suggestions welcome.

I buy mine at
Butlers. They have some smaller cute blank cards (for birthdays, Christmas, weddings, etc). Just have patience at the post office though! When they see a card that isn't "standard size", they bring like two colleagues to check and measure.
But the cards are cute!

I second Deccie- simple, really. I don't know if you are looking in the right department, but the one with all the stationary stuff has them- kaufhof, ground floor- all cards in Germany, by major retailers are sold with an envelope- so very normal. And a post office is not that hard to find in Berlin as well- logically they should/do have cards also.

I had that problem last year - could only find postards and regular cards in envelopes were rather expensive to send by the dozen. I ended up ordering them off eBay in UK! This year I got some nice ones in Lidl and also saw decent cards in McPaper.

Where are you finding these cards? I have been to Dussman, Kaufhoff, Rossman, and several smaller stationary shops and I have not found any boxed Christmas cards. And yes, I have looked in the right departments. They have individual cards of course, but at 2-4 Euros apiece, that's an expensive proposition. I would love to find boxes of 10-12 cards, with envelopes, preferably in a modern design. If anyone does manage to find boxed cards, please update! Thank you.

You can get boxed Christmas cards from McPaper or from UNICEF. UNICEF have a stall at Gendarmarkt Christmas market
