OK, Advent starts 4 weeks before the 25th. So this Year it starts on Nov. 27, with the 1st Weekend being Dec. 2-3. Surly POE is also open on weekdays too...
So who's up for some POE at the end of the Month?

Nov 6 2006, 6:02 pm
You can make your own whenever you want; just Google a recipe. I believe it's a winter drink rather than being restricted only to Advent. One of the student fraternities here is offering it this week.

Not quite but close enough for rock'n'roll.
Advent starts 4 Sundays before 25th, so that makes it 3rd.
However POE and the whole Christmas market opens on the Friday, some places are already open on the Thursday. At least that's what happened last year.

Nov 6 2006, 6:07 pm
if you want to drink POE on any night other than a friday then you have a stronger constitution than i do - i usually need the whole weekend to recover

POE starts when the
Christmas Markets open in central Munich aka - Friday 1st December
Thats the first day when the stand is officially open - although I do hear rumours that the stand could be moving!

As soon as they start building it, there will be a photo from me (same procedure as every year).
Pots of Evil Assault Unit will be in near-usual formation, sadly without Comrade Showem this year (who will lead the choir now?), gideon and marka your attendance is required.
All welcome but, as always, at your own risk.

You missed out the following:
Hug stuffed goat, sing loudly along to the Chipmunks' Christmas CD, make Stammtisch sign out of paper napkin, buy chips, drop chips, possibly wake up under hedge in Schwabing?
Something like that.
Shaggy should also turn up - he's very good at emergency Bratwurst mercy dashes.

Please Take Note:
Although PoE is a good excuse for a Friday night pissup, they are in no way related to
Ians or
Darkknights Friday night drinks.
Any passing resemblence to either of these friday night events is purely co-incidental and not intentional. Your home is at risk if you do not keep up loans or mortgages secured upon it. Please make sure you consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking part in PoE.

Does it matter? They are chips on the floor.
Actually, if anyone is in Frankfurt am Main, the Belgian chip place on Römer is rather wonderful, 30 different sauces for great chips.
Belgian chips (yes, the potatoes are apparently from Belgium) can be found at
Tollwood but their
FZB isn't that good.
But to paraphrase Arnie,
you ain't got time for chips.

I hope I don't get so desperate that I will be eating chips off the floor... or are we talking about wood chips?
(On that note, isn't there a Belgian chip place like the one Katrina mentioned in
Amalienstr? Anyone tried it?)

Yes I've eaten at that Belgian chip place on
Amalienstrasse. They have a long row of different sauces to choose from, make chips, sausages and other fried delights. Not bad. I *think* it's all organic food too, or at least a large part is.

"Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter, in there stepped a stately pot of the saintly days of yore" - Edgar Allen PoE.
Yes, look who's back, back again -
Friday December 1st marks the first Pots of Evil
Feuerzangenbowle meet-up at the
Rindermarkt, Munich central Christmas Market. And thus the offical launch thread, following several PM requests by PoE fans young and less so.
Every Friday in Advent - 5pm onwards, close 8:30pm.TT's
Pots of evil wiki entry gives the location and background information, discussion from previous years will either encourage attendance or put the fear into you.
Pots of Evil is an open event. Follow-on events are at the discretion of the individuals, no affiliation to other Friday events should be implied.
Sadly, the previous choir mistress, Madame Showem, will not be available but it is hoped that new PoE recruit Cookie will be of fine voice for renditions of "The Chipmunks' Christmas" CD. It is expected that all the usual decorations (dead goat, spooky deer heads, unshelled peanuts, Stammtisch sign made out of a paper napkin, MonksTown...) will also be available.
Attendance is at own risk, food consumption is advisable. Schwabing hedge reservations may also be made now.

MonksTown, it is usually you liable to incite a riot, more
Schuß than the bleedin' Army, you are.
Am still proud of that graphic I did the first year, who was responsible for the PoE name? Was it pootle? And how many years have we been doing this now? Is it 3 or 4?
For info:
Pots of Evil refers to the effects suffered by the first group of TTers the first time they drank them, plus the same effects suffered by all others their first time. So if you haven't done PoE, let the evil take you!. Thanks to all the nagging PMers to get the thread going - you know who you all are and you better all turn up!

One logistical thing people should know about POE is that these lushes, I mean lovely people like to cram into the building at first, so it gets very hot. Then the building can no longer contain them so it gets moved outside. For your own comfort, dress in layers and leave your big briefcases in the office.

@renia, well i dont know about the cold but lets say POE is not the place for strappy shoes and high heels. Aside from the weather, the floors get slippery and wet in the building, its not paved immediately out of the building so heels will sink if the ground is soft. You can stand on the pavement but its not very much fun that way.
