So, Tuesday is the big day in the USA. At stake are 435 (all) House seats, 33 (out of 100) Senate seats, 36 (out of 50) Governorships and more importantly, the future direction of the country.
Here are the rules:
Contest is open to everyone, but the winner is responsible for collecting the prize.
Post your best guesstimate of the numerical outcomes the Senate and House races will have on the balance of power following the election.
for example:
House (D) 238, (R.) 197; Senate (D) 50, (R.) 50Ti-breaker (if needed) will be the Governships.
for example:
(D) 30, (R.) 20D=Democrat
R=Republican
I=Independent (Lieberman is an Independent for the purposes of this contest)
Decision of the judge (me) will be final.
Winner can pick up the flag at Sinans (Mozart Str.) on Wednesday night (8th of Nov. 7pm-1am) where we (anyone who wants to join us) will be celebrating. Remember to RSVP for reserved seating.
OK, take your best shot!

Sanwald is right. Lieberman will win as an Indi candidate...so my projection is
Senate 48 (D), 1 (I), 51 ®
House: 236 (D) , 199 ®
Gov'na 29 (D), 21 ®
Though I will be estatic if VA goes with Webb, I just am quite worried that too many voting irregularities or intimdations may win out. Polls are one thing, but what happens on the ground is another. It is also unseasonably cold in VA right now, and that can have an impact on whether people go to vote or not.

is this contest based on the results before or after the lawsuits and court decisions, which seems to be where this election is headed?
gemini
Nov 6 2006, 9:27 am
Hum, good point Chicago. I certainly expect that whatever happens in VA will end up in a recount and court. So we may be waiting to get that flag Eh!
And Eurovol, I don't want no bloody Southern Flag...Please. I be a Northener born and bred, even if I do live below the Mason Dixon line now.

Voting machines began wreaking havoc the minute the polls opened Tuesday, delaying voters in dozens of Indiana and Ohio precincts and leaving some in Florida with little choice but turn to paper ballots instead.
This is going to be a long long night.

Democrats' voter turnout outpaces GOP's in Oregon QUOTE
Democratic turnout in Oregon for today's election continues to outpace Republican turnout, consistent with the results of national polls.
Democrats accounted for 44.1 percent of votes received through Saturday, and Republicans accounted for 38.2 percent, according to figures supplied by the Oregon Democratic Party and corroborated by Republicans. Of those voting, 346,615 were Democrats and 299,992 were Republicans.
Remaining voters were unaffiliated or registered with smaller parties.
Among registered Democrats, 44.6 percent voted by Saturday, compared with 41.8 percent of registered Republicans.
Those figures suggest that Oregon voters' mood is consistent with results of nationwide polls showing that Democrats are more motivated to vote than Republicans this election because of President Bush's declining approval rating, congressional scandals and unhappiness about the Iraq war.
Typically, Republican turnout tops Democratic turnout in Oregon.
Signs of things to come?

This is going to take some time to finalize and tabulate.
As it stands now:
Senate 48-50-2 (both Ind. caucus with the Dems making it 50-50)
House 231-204
Gov. 28-22
Dems set to take control of all three branches, but these numbers will change in the coming hours or weeks.
In th final running looks to be Bluedave, Gemini and Anonymous #1. Plus, my own prediction is not far off the mark.

Gemini has pulled ahead on the House races, but Bluedave is still well positioned in the overall trend by calling the Senate for the Dems as well. I may have to do a poll to help me decide.

There are 10 House races still outstanding.

No real change yet to election results other than Lieberman said yesterday that he hasn't ruled out switching parties.
QUOTE
Lieberman, who has said he will caucus with the Democratic Party despite having lost Connecticut's Democratic senatorial primary to Ned Lamont, not to mention the Democratic vote in the midterm election, wouldn't commit unequivocally to his party: "I'm not ruling it out," he said, "but I hope I don't get to that point."

Let me know when I can give you your flag! We keep bumping into each other, but I just don't carry flags with me all the time. You can trade up to a Tennessee flag if you want. Google it and make your choice. Or, you can take a bottle (hell, maybe two) of the best BBQ sauce you ever had! I have some of the most wickedest mesquite flavored sauce you could ever imagine along with some damn good hickory flavored. It is now aged almost two years and will only get better. I actually think you would enjoy that more than the flag. Of course, it is your choice!
