Green chilis

Where to buy in Munich

I make a pretty good pork green chili, and this cold weather is making me crave it. A few weeks ago, after nearly a month of searching, I finally found my main ingredient - the green chilis. I was so happy to have found them, I eagerly paid the 1.9 euros per 100g - right up to a kilo ohmy.gif

Is there anywhere else in town I can find fresh green chilis at a better price?
Carm
I see you are in schwabing, there is a Asian Shop at Hollenzollerenpl, that has fresh chillies and such. Or try one of the larger Grocery stores, I know my Rewe here in Bogenhausen has green and red fresh chillies.

Thanks Carm - I figured I'd have to try a speciality foods shop. I'll bundle up my daughter and head there now!

Go to the Turkish markets south of the Hbf. They have real green chilis and fair prices. What is in the picture looks more like pepperocinis.

Thanks Eurovol - I'll try that on Monday. Just got back from the Asian food store at Hollenzollerenpl, they didn't have any fresh peppers, and it wasn't until I got halfway home that I realized I could have also looked for canned chopped green chilis.

I don't think they are pepperocinis, as you see in the photo - the vendor at vikmarkt called them pimientos. I think they are more like anaheim peppers...

So we're settling for pasta tonight smile.gif

You can get the canned ones here, but I am sure they cost. DW posted it somewhere on here that he found them, but I forget where.
The closest thing to Poblano (rellenos) chiles will most likely be called Hungarian Pimento peppers or some variation. Be careful, they have Turkish cayenne peppers which are really hot and not like green chilis at all.

Any updates on where to buy canned green chilis?

Possibly some fresh too.

Mercado de Mexico is the best, but might not be so easy to reach. Asian food shops have them too and they're all over the place.
