As Chrimbo is getting closer, I thought it may be an idea to take a look at these
digital photo frames.
I have Googled and seen lots of piccies but I would like to know where I can go to take a look at some and compare side by side.
Not only that, has anyone actually used them? If so how easy are they for a pair of old duffers like my Mum and Dad, to use?
Thanks

Saw some in Saturn when I was there about a month ago. I think they're a great idea, but I also think they will be half the price they are now by next Christmas.

Well I bought one, and it really wasnt what I has looking for.. It had one or 2 too many buttons on it so my parents would struggle a little..
So I did a bit more shopping around..
Looked at about 5 or 6 before I decided to spend some serious dosh
Eventually I plumped for the
Philips 9FF2M4The user interface is easy to follow, slide show features are fab, oh, and the picture quality is the best I have seen from a DPF. One feature that did surprise me... Its also got internal rechargeable battery...
I dont think I bear the thought of giving it to my parents!
Well worth the investment

In your searches, did you see any that had wired/wireless connectivity, an API and could update from secured web services?

Yes I did see that there are Wireless ones available but they are stupidly expensive.. Couldnt see the benefits of it really
It takes the same amount of time to upload the piccies using a wire!

Oh well, maybe I'll wait on this until prices come down. Wired/wireless is only a convenience; I'm more interested in updating from the net as opposed to from a local memory card or local computer. Then it would make a great family gift.

Oh I would love one of those!
I saw them months ago at Kaisers but they were a bit pricey at 80 Euros, I'll wait until they go down in price a bit!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a digital picture frame?
Is for my parents, I'd call them mature, but they are not, they're just as silly as they ever were, so needs to be extremely simple to use.
Should also be easily available as I'd like to buy it after work.
Any tips?

I would recommend taking your camera card with you to Saturn and get the monkey who works there to show you how easy it is..
I eventually bought a nice Philips Frame..
The picture is fantastic!

Indeed, beware of geeks bearing gifts.

If I turned up with a load of leather-clad Australian men my mum would be well happy. When Showem and greg came over, she wanted to keep greg as a pet. She's good like that is my mum, kind to children, dumb animals *and* Australians.
But whatever, this Philips one is nice is it?

We just bought a Samsung at the weekend and we're happy with it so far. Basically load up your camera card, or USB stick or whatever, stick it in the back, plug the thing in and the slide show starts automatically. There is then a simple menu function to randomise the order of the pictures, change the effects between shots or whatever...
*runs over to frame to check model*
It's an SPF-83H. We ordered ours off the net though, so I'm not sure which shops stock them.
