Can't believe they're doing this. I've signed the petition. I'm sure a lot of locals will miss out too. It's the only chance I really get to see a movie.

Me too, if I wanna see it with you.

Mat, can you pls send a mail round in your office for people to sign the petition, that'll be quite a few.

Bugger!

Have done. Would be a real shame if it ended.

Am just sending a text to some friends who will surely sign. Maybe we can ask Finnegan's to put up a poster as well.
Expat Mat
Have emailed it to 30+ people. Should get some response to that.

Have also emailed the link to The British Club in Hamburg and Hamburger Abendblatt.

Update: at least 35 people have signed the petition this morning. Nice one. Let's keep it going/growing.

Have also posted it in the Munich forum, TT is HUGE there, hope some of them will sign the petition.

Balls... has it been confirmed that they have pulled the English movie versions?? They did something similar last year where they stopped English films for a few weeks and showed a lot of Turkish films as they are doing now.

Well, I just rang them up and found out that they are indeed reducing the amount of films shown in English (OmU) to about 2-3 films per week. The Sneak Previews on Mondays won't be axed though, which appears to be the main event for Expats or people who prefer watching films in the original version. Their "English" audience has been reducing in numbers for over a year now, hence their change in programme. Better the Sneak Preview than nothing at all though. Good luck with the petition nevertheless. I'll sign up, Hamburg is still "meine Perle".

Have seen that, too, when I had a look on their hp today.
Couldn't find any article or so in the net, also nothing on their website.

So I just called them and asked if it was true that they are no longer showing English versions.
The answer was "At the moment not".
I had to ask four times more to finally get the answer that they MIGHT be showing English versions again, but it has not been decided yet, the staff don't seem to know anything about it.
So it's for an indefinite period now.

Even more important to show that we are in fact interested in English versions!

I just rang them up
Zwei Doofe, ein Gedanke...

Funny that you got a completely different info. But not funny haha.

edit: at the moment there is no English version on offer, just some Turkish versions.
edit edit: Borat available OmU

I've signed up and hope everyone else does, it's a lot easier to keep something than restart something.

Have my Borat tickets booked for Friday night, can't wait

Would be a shame if they stop them all together but as those of you who go there will have observed, there are not many people attending. I have been in there on Friday evenings with as few as 2 people and can't recall it ever being more than half full even for some of the big releases!
