River Elbe flooding the Fischmarkt area (again) - Hamburg

What's the reason: have you been having lots of rain? Or is it high tides?

Is that first photo of the building where you can enter the tunnels that go under the harbor?

Its near there Perdido. A few hundred metres away. That building is the old auction house where you can drink and eat and listen to bands till 9 in the morning.

It's high tides plus heavy rain overnight.

I remember wading through water to get on the ferry over to Finkenwerder very well

The real cause is that there is a deep depression (Sturmtief) moving
over Scandinavia and that has caused winds up to force 10 from the northwest.

It was rather a wild night up here & was too windy to send the children to school on their bikes.

A NW storm is the classic situation to push the water up the river Elbe (like a funnel) with resulting flooding in Hamburg... Levels such as todays are well within grasp of the defences.

I bloody know it was wild and windy up there, i flew back from Bremen last night and it was ermm interesting

Pilots do get paid for not only flying in fair weather!!!
