Nine Inch Nails are coming... finally! Tickets not yet on sale.
UrbanAngel
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH thank you Boba!!! You've made my month! (ok so it's the 30th today, let's pretend it's Nov already). Hooray!
honeebeaz
Cool, nice one Boba. Hey UA, I know it might be a *wee* bit early for that but do you think we could meet up/go together? What do you know, when it is for fun I seem to like to plan ahead!... tongue.gif
MoiLV
Cool! Thanks for posting this.. can't wait. I saw them in 1994 (or 1995, can't remember, but I was a Freshman in high school) in Vegas and Marilyn Manson opened. Weird, but fantastic.
UrbanAngel
Yeah sure that'd be cool. I'm going to be so pissed off if I can't make it (who knows what life or work can throw at you). I've only seen them once, it was at Southside a year or two ago. From the 2nd row, right in front of Twiggy Ramirez biggrin.gif

I won't describe more, either you appreciate deities or you don't. Tickets go on sale Nov. 6th.

Ooh thanks for the heads up about the start of the ticket sales. I just did a bit of research. No ticket info yet on any site apart from the official NIN site which says that tickets will be on sale over www.eventim.de as of 6.11.06.

Found another site with tickets - Kartenhaus
UrbanAngel
Still nothing on Eventim, and Kartenhaus says 'shortly'. If you see them online, can you give a heads up here? Ta!
UrbanAngel
They're now online at Eventim, and I just ordered mine biggrin.gif
Kartenhaus still hasn't uploaded them yet.

€42.15 incl. fees through Eventim.
Katrina
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS - have my tickets biggrin.gif
UrbanAngel
I checked at lunchtime; they're also on sale at the Marienplatz ticket sales box.
brokenm
Got mine this morning as well. His new album will be released in March or April as well, so I expect a long concert.

Anybody has got some NIN concert/videoclips DVD to recommend?
UrbanAngel
It depends what for, Prag78m. If you don't know NIN and want to get a feel for their music style, I'd suggest 'Head Like a Hole', 'Closer', any random song from 'The Fragile', 'Bite the Hand that Feeds' and listen to their new stuff on MySpace. Should give you a general feel.
Katrina
Quality - support for NIN will be the rather fabulous Ladytron. That's worth the ticket price alone, free music samples on their site for those who don't know the band.
NOFXmike
Would anyone want to meet up before the show? I'm going alone as my gf hates NIN. I saw'em in 94, I saw'em in 2002 (was it 2002...hmm..2000? I dunno, it's a blur...the opener was A Perfect Circle, who thankfully got booed off the stage), and dammit, I'm going next week.

So who's going? I live in Milbertshofen, so probably take U-bahn and walk there...
LFF
Anyone happen to have a spare ticket or know where I could get one?

Would be very much appreciated,
UrbanAngel
I know someone who was selling one. I'll ask if it's still for sale.
LFF
thanks UA - you´re a star!
UrbanAngel
Sorry, ticket no longer for sale.
Prag78m
take a look at e-bay - there are still some NIN (Munchen) tickets.. I have just bought mine for 22 € from there..

Btw.. Anybody knows if they let me in with my DSLR , external flash and teleobjective?
UrbanAngel
There are also tickets for sale on http://www.schwarzes-muenchen.de --- click on Forum, then Search, for Nine Inch Nails. At least 2 threads of ppl selling tickets.

Prag78m - I think it says on Zenith's website what they allow.
Boba
München Ticket says there's probably tickets on the door still. There'll probably be a few people selling them outside too.
Prag78m
Great Concert, wasn't it !? :-)
patchinko
Yeahhh great concert for me...it was the first time I saw them...but I really enjoyed it!!!
Stranger
They have some great songs. Reznor is a god. The concert had is moments (though I thought it was a crap version of Closer), but why do I get the same feeling every time I see a band in Munich that they are just going through the motions. I guess if you are on world tour then you get excited about playing London, LA, maybe even Berlin, but not the Zenith in Munich.
I missed the support Ladytron, as I didn't know it was them supporting so i arrived just for NIN. I know their songs which I find OK. Were they worth seeing live? (Worth EUR14 and a Saturday evening of my life in Backstage??)
Prag78m
hmmm Ladytron...- just one long, boring/monotonous noise.. each song same as the other. I own 3 of their albums which I found much better as that what they have showed there on the stage... Have heard that Reznor choose them personally from - wonder if he have seen them live before he has decided for them..

Btw.. what a pity for the 2 guitras NIN they have damaged in the end of the concert, wasnt it ? .. - too much of a brutal way to show the audience that there is not going to be any "die Zugabe"..

;-)
Boba
I thought that was brilliant.
Katrina
Smashing stuff up is usual for NIN. Their music makes me feel all smashy too.
Yep "Closer" didn't have nearly enough bass, at Southside it was at disembowelment levels and rightly so, last night wasn't sadly.
"Head Like A Hole" worth the entry price alone and brokenm yelling along to his song was a sight to see smile.gif

Major respect to the guy in the gimp harness for the entire gig - not on stage but in the audience, was going to ask his keeper about it.

And Reznor had far too many clothes on. That kind of muscle tone deserves aîrtime. Honeebeaz agreed when I lifted her up to show her, she repaid the favour and those arms, those arms, those arms, they get me closer to God.

Now we've only gotta get drivinwest to a Rammstein gig hahahhahha, UA and man looked the biz as ever!
bobD
all sounds good. I'll be seeing them in FFT on Wednesday 4th.

keep the reviews coming
UrbanAngel
Morning everyone. Unfortunately I didn't get to see Ladytron because (from what I heard) they actually started at 8pm! The cheek! Got there around 8.30-8.45pm or so, can't remember, so that when some music started at 9pm, I presumed it was Ladytron. Then I thought, 'Ey up, this is a bit heavy for them', Trent came on stage (apparently, I couldn't see anything) and people started surging forward, so we started to weave in and out of the crowd to get closer. That was my plan out of the window! (wanted to go to the front during the break between the bands, darn). Anyway, it was a good gig - I was most happy to hear 'Head Like a Hole' smile.gif Not too sure about the new stuff, but the crowd went mental when he played one of the new songs (not sure which one). Trent was looking porky on stage, but I think it's just cos of his jacket - he was wearing jeans and a denim jacket from what I could see, and the guitarist with the longish black hair a red shirt - how colourful! Shoulda brought my sunglasses. I'm always surprised at German (Munich?) crowds when they just stand there and don't seem that interested in the whole event. This time wasn't too bad - there was a bit of atmosphere where I stood. Nearly got into a fight with a drunk guy who pushed me, so I pushed him back really hard, he fell into the security tape, turned round and looked surprised to see ickle ol me, a girl hahahaha. Idiot. Um yes, so music good, NIN good as always, though I couldn't see much, and not sure about new songs. Not the best review I've ever given but hey.
Katrina
The jacket made him look more stocky than he was, when they played "Happiness in Slavery" with the swinging lamps he had the jacket off.
That's meat not lard, dear.

*fans self*
UrbanAngel
As I said, I couldn't see much. I know when I saw NIN at Southside a couple of years ago, his muscles really impressed me. Certainly not scrawny anymore!
NOFXmike
I had seen NIN twice before...each time in a very different venue...and very different shows. I own both the live DVD's, and the new one is not very good, imo. So, although both times I had seen them before, they had killer shows...and I was excited...at the same time, the new DVD performance lowered my expectations. However, they shouldn't have been lowered! Wow...night and day difference between the DVD and the actual show...last night was great.

As for how you'd think Ladytron wouldn't start on time, I don't understand. The website said doors at 7, music at 8, so you'd think they'd start at latest at 8:15...and go for 1/2 an hour or so...like any opener. They started right when they were supposed to...and lasted longer than I'd hoped...but still just about exactly 1/2 an hour. Last time I saw NIN, the opener was A Perfect Circle, who got booed off the stage with chanting of "nine inch nails"...so I wasn't expecting much of Ladytron. The pre-show atmosphere kinda sucked last night as the crowd was rather indifferent...but oh well. Ladytron were a pretty damn boring droning that just kept going. The one thing they had going for them is that at least the Munich crowd is "polite" in comparison to what I saw with A Perfect Circle. NIN played for just under 2 hours...performed most of their songs better (imo) than the last live DVD, and in some ways better than the studio (depending on your mood, of course)...I was impressed again and thought it was a awesome show.

Hell, I didn't even have a beer...

Hehe I've obviously been to more gigs in the UK than here.. usually 8pm = 8.30pm - 9pm in reality!

The show was awesome! Yeah... Ladytron didn't live up to what I expected (even my favorite song 'destroy everything' kinda sounded monotone and darkly boring) but I felt that they were a good opening for NIN just cause they cast a dark atmosphere over the crowd. I think they were truly trying to play dark, leaving any pep out of their set, to create this atmosphere - so I won't hold it against them! BUT then came NIN and the rest is a blur of dancing and screaming. Great show... good till the last drop. My only complaint, which I'm having more and more as I grow older on the subject of live shows, is some of the people in the crowd. Germans have such a weird concept of personal space and queuing (as we all know and love) so picture the stage being the head of the line where everyone wants to be. I'm cool with that. It rocks to be in the front! But at some point - after about 2 songs - it would be nice to have everyone be settled, not pushing past you (spilling beer and burning you with cigs) and just enjoy being where they are. I was stage left, by the tall metal pole and couldn't see much but the occasional Trent glimpse (short little thing that he is... they should have put him up higher! wink.gif ) but I was happy there. If people moved away that were right in front of me, I scooched up. Somewhere around halfway through, when we're all good and sweaty from dancing, these 4 short little German girls (okay... they were between 23-26 years old from the looks of it) arrive right next to us, and one plastered herself right up against me. No one else in our immediate area is having this much space issue, everyone can still dance and move... but me, I've got at least one of them leaning on me at all times. Totally bizarre. And there were a few freaks (bless their hearts) that were having the most expressive dancing experience, that threw the occasional hand in your face or head butted you accidentally. So basically everyone had a good time as far as I could see. biggrin.gif
UrbanAngel
Squirrel Girl - I had the same thing with the short girls, so it motivated me to attempt some handbanging till they left. I was also stage left near the metal column, right by the security tape. Were you that far front too? Sorry if it wasme with my hand in your face biggrin.gif
SquirrelGirl
Hey UA, nope... the hand-jabber-dancer was some freak in a brown suede jacket with his hair in shoulder-length dreadlocks. He required about 6 times the 'normal' amount of dance space just to pull off his crazy moves. Later I saw him hanging with a buddy who was doing a kind of 'bent-over, hands-orbiting-his-head, religious euphoria in a downward spiral' thing that was actually fun to watch. That's what I miss about not living in San Francisco... there just aren't enough freaks here to enjoy on a regular basis!

Funny that the same group of girls were bugging, you two! They probably migrated over by me after your delft handbaggin'... gotta learn me that maneuver... smile.gif
SquirrelGirl
... oh... just re-read the post and you were hand-BANGING not hand-BAGGING... tee hee... I was picturing you using your purse as an urban assault weapon... tongue.gif
UrbanAngel
My fault actually, I meant HEADbanging hehe smile.gif
canuck
Shit. Looks like I missed another good concert.
NOFXmike
If anyone missed NIN this time around, they're playing Rock Am See this summer with NOFX!!!

Fucking hell, if I had known that I probably would have saved my money this last time...but NIN is MUCH better than I had hoped for as a headliner for Rock Am See...last year's line-up was shit.
Then again, the year before that had Social D, NOFX, and DTH...so I guess it's an every other year it's good type thing...like the warped tour in the states.
UrbanAngel
Rock am welchen See? Chiemsee?
