So in two weeks time i'll be leaving Germany. A bit of a bombshell, but there you go. Heading for pastures new. I'm actually moving to Geneva, Switzerland to take up a new job there..

I love it here, but i've got an eternal curiosity for all things new and life in general so this seems like a really cool chance to see and experience somewhere new. And hey i can always come back!! and i'm sure i'll still be checking in to the board from time to time (if i'm allowed!!)

Okay...so this is where you are all meant to beg me to stay..!!! right ...!!??

almost forgot...

of course, i can't leave without a kristalweizen or two... so if anyone wants to hook up for a beer in Frankfurt on friday 3rd or saturday 4th November then i'm open to suggestions

Geneva is a pretty expensive area. I visited CERN (nearby) a number of times years ago...

One tip from then: in Winter make sure you get out of the city & into the mountains. Apparently fog can often collect in the valley whilst above the fog line its great weather. Hence you shouldn't wait for the fog to clear before setting off on skiiing expidition...

Hooray, you're closer to me! And a lovely reason to visit Geneva again, hubby lived there for a year. Now you'll have to learn French and forget all your German...

Alan, just to add my best wishes to you as you embark on your next life stage. It sounds a fantastic opportunity which don't come round very often, and I am sure you will settle in very quickly. Well done for grabbing it and you will definately not regret it, its what's life is all about!

We've decided to go for a cool traditional Frankfurter-style bite and then just hit some bars / clubs in town afterwards..

We're gonna go to Der Gasthof Steinernes Haus which is just of Romer platz near the centre of town..

Figured it'd be cool to have a traditional German meal to send off...schnitzels, applewein, wurst and that Frankfurter Green Sauce stuff etc. etc.

So if anyone would like to come along then please let me know and we'll get a table booked accordingly.

Service at these places is notoriously slow so i reckon we should start reasonably early. Say 19:30 ?

Change of Plan

The plan initially was to go for something to eat in the centre and go on from there, but after consultation with the higher members of the Bornheim Massive and their peers it has been decided that we'll do a night in Bornheim, Berger Strasse etc..

So, the new plan is:

Saturday 4th November, from 19:30, meet at ShonerBerger's on Berger Strasse

I'll be planning to eat there. Have a few beers and then head on to a few bars afterwards.

So it'd be cool to see you on my last night in Frankfurt if you can make it along. Let me know if you can. I'll want to get a number for booking a table at shoneberger's asap so please let me know on that.

From there we'll be heading down to some bars: Sugar, Carre, Flipper, Oton, Nachtbar, Sandbar are all possiblities and so if anyone is likely to come out later then that's cool too.

My place is an option, but bear in mind i'll be mid-move and not having much of a lay-in on sunday

Cheers for the offer I don't mind being kicked out early doors anyway...means i don't waste the day lying in bed with a hangover. Just don't fancy staying up until 6 for the 3rd Sunday morning on the trot!

Basically because I can't get through to Schoenerberger's. I've been trying to call them to reserve for 3 days now. So I've made a 'back-up' reservation at Hannibal which is just down the road at Bornheim Mitte, and very close to one of my favourite bars Carre

I'm still going to try and book Schoenerberger's so will let you all know for definite tomorrow.

Incidentally, if there's anyone in the vicinity of Schoenerberger this evening that fancies dropping in there to see if they can take us on saturday then that'll be cool. I'll try and call them again but they just don't answer.
