Just wanted to know what your favorite places for food shopping in Cologne are?

Here are some ideas: Basic Bio (City), Rewe-everywhere in town, Maxxus-hypermarket, toom-hypermarket in koln arcades/kalk, Standa-Dumont-Carree City, Kaiser's Hohenzollernring, Delhaize City... any more ??

Tell me about your experiences smile.gif

On a slightly different topic, why do the supermarkets display a price on the product on the shelf and when you are at the cashier paying you pay a different higher price? And then you have to argue with someone in English who doesn't really want to understand you and pretends he doesn't understand. mad.gif

This has happened to me twice at Real.

What was you buying Hammer Fan? If you were buying drinks or certain products in glass jars (like Landliebe yoghurt) then chances are you were paying the deposit (Pfand) - normally 25c per bottle. Means you have to return the empty bottles to get your money back!

Hope this helps

It was a pair of nail cutters and shower gel which had a big sign over it showing the price at 1.25€ which I thought was quite cheap, only to get to the cashier and pay 2.65€ for it and the nail cutters 60 cents added. The annoying part was the customer service frustrating me by pretending to speak limited English when I heard him speaking clearly to a beautiful blond lady before.

Was always wondering why people went around with bags collecting bottles in the Altstadt.
oh! I have been chucking bottles away by the tons before I realised you had to take them back to claim your deposit. ph34r.gif
