At last some good news regarding jobs,
Lufthansa are to employ 750 new staff at their Munich Hub.
QUOTE
'The growth achieved by Lufthansa at its southern hub (Munich) exceeds our expectations. That is why we urgently need more staff on the ground and on board,' said Karl Ulrich Garnadt, Lufthansa's head of hub management at Munich airport
These 750 jobs come on top of the original planned expansion of 2,400 jobs across Germany in 2006.

Excellent news.
But are they going to expand the terminal or build a new one to deal with the expansion? There are far too many flights where one has to get on a bus to the plane. And that really pisses me off!

Wandering of topic slightly already but ever since they completed terminal 2 there have been loads of flights where you have to get on a bus. I had assumed that that new terminal would solve that, but no, they love to drive you all round the friggin Wrekin. So I doubt that they will solve that particular one now either, whatever they do.
But yes indeed, a load of new jobs is great news!

As far as I know the plan was to build a new first class only terminal so LH can better compete on the upper end with some of the ME and Asian airlines.

That's great news but hopefully it isn't for LH Systems because they are rubbish and I'd know.

Putting the planes on the tarmac without hooking them up to a terminal saves time, which means they can often get an extra flight out of a plane each day. Which saves money of course. Maybe some of the new personnel will be driving the buses.

Odd enough if you go to the LH website and look for positions available for Bavaria, there are only three or four. I wonder when are those 750 positions available.

I am a little suprised at that since in my experience you get off a plane quicker when
its at a gate rather than parked on the apron. With the latter often had to wait whilst
steps were found etc etc.

I believe the point is that it saves time for the planes, not for the passengers.

Just gone to the
Lufthansa Press release Site and they posted the following yesterday :-
QUOTE
Lufthansa is offering positions in the Aviation Group to 2,500 new staff in this year alone. By year-end, around 260 flight attendants and 65 station staff are to be taken on in Frankfurt. A further 140 flight attendants and 30 Service Professionals for passenger services at the airport are to be recruited in Munich.
So, going off the press release on Forbes.com that said the extra 750 were in addition to the original expansion, that would indicate 920 new
jobs in Munich to be offered.

A quote from the above mentioned
Lufthansa Press release Site :
The central platform of the new campaign is the Lufthansa online career portal at www.Be-Lufthansa.com, which has successively been enhanced with new functions for online staff recruitment since coming on stream in October 2002.
Registered in a talent pool in the portal are more than 25,000 prospective job applicants with their qualifications profile. A “Career Assistant“ is available to highlight job vacancies, as they arise, so that none of the applicants risks missing a position for which their skills suit them. At Lufthansa, 95 per cent of all job applications are now handled online.
