Pub quiz - every Tuesday in Hamburg

For all you brainiacs who can't make it to Finnegan's, there's also an English-language pub quiz from 9pm every Tuesday evening at the Shamrock Irish Pub in St Pauli.

It's been running since 2004 and features a competitive league. Currently in the lead are a group of Germans... the shame.

Don't worry if you haven't a team - we can sort you out.

It features a specialized subject every week, themed rounds, and free popcorn for the movies round.

I took part in an inter-pub quiz challenge between The Shamrock and Finnegan's a while ago. It was good fun to have a home and away leg and experience a different pub quiz. Maybe we should do it again.

I've still got the picture of our team Mat. 1-1 as i recall but the greater winning margin was for Finnegans.

I think we would have gone through on aggregate score!

We still have a copy of the photo too at home. Would be nice to do it all again, providing there's enough people left in Hamburg to do make up a team!

I noticed the plug for the Finnegans pub quiz : the Shamrock on Feldstrasse also does an excellent quiz with a much more interesting quiz format IMO (current affairs, movies, music etc) - every tuesday at 21:30 or so. There is a special subject each week which is usually about some event or popular figure - can be interesting swatting up for the pub quiz. I missed winning some tickets for the James Bond permier in HH earlier in the week. As well as drinks prizes there is also a healthy league which results in some quite good prizes - tickets to see Christy Moore, tickets to the Irish Music Festival - certainly worth it - just get there early as its getting more & more popular and getting a seat can be difficult. Bluedave, Hammonia and I were once part of the team representing Finnegan's at an interpub quiz challenge at The Shamrock. They do a pretty good quiz there.

Probably time we had another one.

EDIT: Just realised I wrote exactly the same thing on this thread a while back.
