So that is the order for February out of the way and now orders are being taken for March.Order now and get at the end of March.Due to the 4 week turn around, as explained at the beginning of the ad, i have to place all orders a month in advance.Sorry to all and sundry about that but as can be seen on the comments in the ad its well worth it.
Mik Dickinson
Orders for February will be delivered on the 23.02.2008.Its a Saturday same place as usual. Will be placing orders for March around that time then. rolleyes.gif

Mik's bacon on a pizza...gorgeous! Ok, I slightly over-cooked the pizza due to a distraction, but still most excellent!

Mik Dickinson
At last i make it on to Keydecks photo hall of fame.I am honoured.
Mik Dickinson
Just got feed back that the guy who came all the way over from Stuttgart enjoyed his bacon too.Farthest customer up to now.
Mik Dickinson
Now just to clear up any misunderstandings, and i will type it slowly so that O.G. understands it.I deliver to the Münich customers at Münich Riem.Any one on my side of Münich we can talk about, around the Erding area and the like.As for O.G.'s bacon well i have gotten rid of it to some one who appreciates bacon and friendly delivery TO MÜNICH RIEM.
gideon
Mmmm looking forward to Saturday! I shall be watching rugby but Mrs.G will be down to collect.

Thats a bit harsh...

I am sure OG can get to my local Butcher and order his bacon in normal shop opening hours...

Its every bit as good!

My girlfriend bought some bacon last year and it was nice - not great, but just nice. I can't believe all the people who absolutely rave that this is the best they've ever tasted. At Christmas I brought back some smoked bacon from a UK supermarket and I have to say it was far superior and a LOT cheaper. So anyone who misses proper UK style bacon, go ahead and buy from Mik. He's a nice, friendly guy and it's a nice treat and it's better than most of the stuff you'll get here and I would recommend it, but PLEASE everyone, stop wetting your pants and exaggerating. Maybe you're on a different planet or you forget what real UK bacon actually tastes like. Just be a bit more honest please !!
SpiderPig
Its been said here before..

When you know the right cut of meat and its cured in the right way.. all German Butchers could supply it..

My Butcher has it in stock.. There for the takings!

We do get some funny looks though when we order this cut at a particular thickness!

It is available here in Munich!

Or maybe, just maybe, other people have different tastes to you? I love Mik's bacon, better than any bacon I've had for many many years
Weevil
You're probably right Timmeh. You're also easily pleased methinks. Try buying big thick gammon slices when you're back in the UK. Maybe you'll prefer them to real bacon.
Keydeck
Give it a rest, Weevil. I've bought bacon from Mik too and think it's great. Pre-packed into easy to use portions, perfect for freezing. He provides a good and convenient service to those who wish to avail of it. It sounds almost like you have a personal axe to grind with him or something.

I like bacon, but not enough to fly to another country on someone's recommendation (who seems to have different tastes to me) to try it. Thanks for advice tho.
Weevil
Keydeck, take your own advice and actually read my post. If I had a personal axe to grind would I say it was nice ? Would I actually recommend it ? Which I do. Would I praise Mik as a nice friendly guy ? Which I also do. My point is that people who say it's the best they have ever tasted are hyping this up and maybe some people might be a bit disappointed when they actually taste it. It IS nice, comes in nice convenient portions and is a good service but doesn't deserve the pant wetting praise that so many people are giving it.
Keydeck
Maybe it actually is the best that some people have ever tasted...even people who've had other British stylee bacon. Why is that so hard to comprehend? As Timmeh said, different people have different tastes. I've been here 10 years and it's sure as shite the best I've ever come across. Couple that with the fact that I don't have to go explaining to my local butcher what I am looking for and it makes it a fantastic deal. Might not be your cup of swine but as many on this thread have said it sure is for them.
JayGee
I have to say that I agree with Weevil.

The bacon that we had from Mik was nice enough but it's not the same thing as real British bacon IMHO.

Errrr Mik's bacon isn't smoked so how can you compare it to a smoked bacon??? It's also from certified bio-pigs, isnt injected and is cured buy a hofmetzger, not a factory. As for price. Mik's is more than resonable. Especialy when you work out how much a flight to England costs to pick up your factory/supermarket/bacon would cost.

Err one I doubt you have any idea what proper real UK farm bacon tastes like, otherwise you wouldn't rant on about some salt injected chemical smoked supermarket rubbish. I come from planet english countryside and Bacon a la Dikinson is what I am served at home, maybe you and others have just never tasted real bacon? As for wetting my pants. Well I've been here for 15 years and can now regularly get fresh bacon in a style I want and to a quality to which is excellent. If that isn't a reason to wet my pants then I don't know what is.

Maybe this accounts for the difference in opinion because I've been here just over 15months and I can still remember what real British bacon is like. tongue.gif
Keydeck
Yes, because neither of us have been home in all that time rolleyes.gif
JayGee
I'm off back to blighty for the first time this Wednesday - first stop a greasy spoon cafe for a proper fry up!

If I remember I'll take a photo for you. wink.gif

First time after 15 months, that's a long time away. Have a good one!

Naaa the difference is you've never eaten farm or hof salt cured bacon before. If you've been bought up on supermarket smoked rubbish your taste buds are going to be confused when it comes to a more traditional hand cured style. Heck schack on a san gooo as the say in france, roll on Sunday breakfast!

Completely off topic, but I'm intruiged. What for you is a proper fry up? And what can't you get here to make the equivilant. I've only got black pudding on my list.
Keydeck
Gids, sausages? German, the land of the sausage and I can't find anything like at home. Sure, most of the sausages I get here have much more flavour, etc, but sometimes I'd just like a pack of Denny Gold Label or Olhausen (funny that, a German who showed up in Dublin at the end of the 19th century).
gideon
True, I would sell various aged realations to get hold of a rough chopped pork sage and apple sausage. But I have made them in wollwürst style. Still most greasy spoons are not exactly brimming with top class no cardboard sausages.
Reallydimjim
This pant wetting behaviour, maybe it comes from some sort of psycho.. problem? I mean everytime you guys have this Meat you are peeing yourselfs?? I would suggest you lay off the stuff! or visit a Head Docter, Then after a bit of treatment you can enjoy your Breakfast without pissing on the carpet.. huh.gif

Getting excited over bacon FFS, us expats are really fucked up!

I think you hit the mark on two scores:
1) Black pudding is (for me) an essential item for a proper fry up which doesn't appear to be available here
2) I don't want to _make_ the equivalent - I want to be served my fry up in a proper greasy spoon cafe*. I guess it's as much about the environment as the food (which of course is never exactly fine eating)

* I guess everyone has their own benchmarks but here are two of my favourites:
-> Greasy Lil's on the A5
-> Black Cat on the A1

Anyway to answer the question that was asked:
Black pudding
Sausage
Bacon
Bubble
Toms
Beans
Fried slice
Fried egg (snotty)
Thick white bread with butter
Tea that you can stand your spoon up in
For added bliss (but not so common) I'd also add kidneys
BTW I've left out the mushrooms 'cos I don't particularly like them but, hey, if they're there I'll eat them too
godber
I can recommend Blutwurst as a replacement for the Black Pudding (its the same thing really ,depending where you buy it, every butcher has his own recipe).
Timmeh
Bubble & fried slice...what are they?
Keydeck
Bubble's a flatish cake made from potato & vegetables.

Ah, right. Bubble is bubble & squeak, and fried slice is fried bread. Got it. You English with your un-Englsh speak.

Got rellies over from Canada and they were well pleased having proper bacon for a change. Will definitely be getting a lot more - cheers Mik

Hello!
I´m vegetarian, so feel a little bit sorry for the pigs, but on the other hand it´s nice to see that "proper" English people are getting "proper" English food...does anyone know where I can pick up a nice chunk of mature Cheddar around here???
mulah
Search and ye shall find.

Where to buy Cheddar cheese

Thanks Mulah,
I´ll be going out shopping tommorrow morning!!!
- my taste buds are tingling already ;-))

It is increasingly the case that people that have ordered get in touch very close to the delivery date saying they cannot make the delivery in Münich Riem.
This is fresh produce i deliver, i have a round trip of over 90km to deliver this to customers.Up to now nearly all customers have been understanding about this.If its the case that customers cannot make it then i am going to have to ask for a delivery charge.Around the Erding area i do not mind but going in to Münich on a single delivery is asking a bit too much in my eyes.
Moonboot
bummer Mik!
we´ll deffo be there at 2pm.
see you then smile.gif
