Der Gallier Weinhandel - wine shop in Planegg

English-speaking and really friendly

Despite my general complaints about customer service in Germany, or lack thereof, I have found a real gem in Planegg. The Gallier Wine shop in Kettelerstr 21 ( I think ), 82152 is not only extremely friendly, but also cheap and speak english. Given a bigger order he also delivers.

Went there for a wine tasting last week and it was excellent, well priced and not a sign of a wine snob in sight. Prices range from 4.50 to 15.00€, so it wont break the bank.

Mrs B went in to order wine for a meal she was cooking and Thomas the owner let her try a few and made some excellent suggestions. There are always a few bottles open in the shop, try before you buy which is sensible.

Try it out and let me know what everyone else thinks.( no they are not paying me in wine, I'm just really happy to have found the shop and thought I'd share it. )

could be.

But -- always a few bottles open in the shop? On our wine tour last weekend, one winery offered us bottles to taste from that had been open for a week already. We were not impressed.

Gen,

exactly right. When I went in the other day he was pouring wine down the sink. He Said it had been open too long. How long is too long I dont know, but I've never had a bad or oxidised one.

That's good. This place is a chain actually: http://www.gallier.de/ and also involved with "DelikatEssen - Ausgehen in München". Probably listed.
