Is anyone interested in a mass TT outing? When are you available? Post here and I'll try to get things organized. Weekends or evenings are preferable, I suppose.
I start the bidding with Friday, 20.Oct.2006, 6.45pm.

I'll second the bid for Friday.

You could fly United Airlines and watch it on there.. I did. It's a good movie but Al Gore is a total BORE. He's very monotone. Very interesting, though.

Can't wait until the "What Happened to the Electric Car" comes out too. Anyone heard of that one?

I'm going next weekend as this weekend i'll be going to the Science of Sleep/Eternal Sunshine double feature...michel gondry, woooh!
UrbanAngel
I've reserved 2 tix for when a friend's visiting Fri 20th evening showing.

About this Friday (20.Oct.2006, 6.30pm):
Codemonkey, are you still on?
Mr. Renia expressed interest last Sunday
Anyone else?
UrbanAngel
That's the showing I'm going to so maybe I'll bump into you there!
Renia
As far as I know he is still interested.

Since I haven't got any really definite replies I suggest that anyone who's interested just turns up about 6pm. Scogs and I will be there but I won't reserve any tickets unless you ask me kindly via PM/phone call.
mere
are you going to reserve tickets at all and what time would you want to know by?
sarabyrd
I would pick up your ticket if you tell me by 5pm that you need one but only because I know how far away you live smile.gif

Sounds good, but which day at 6pm?
mere
today, no?
UrbanAngel
Since it's mentioned 3 times that they want to go Friday (ie today) then I would think it's today.

I am very impressed. Gore's occupation with this topic is not a new hobby that he took up after Bush was elected proclaimed President, he has been following the global warming and its causes for the last 40-odd years.
The movie is personal, passionate, informative, comprehensive, comprehensable and really, really worth watching. It's science made easy, the way his graphics correlate and the explanations he gives leave you with a wealth of information. Then you think he's going out on a tangent talking about his son's accident in 1989 or his picking tobacco when he was a teenager and you think WTF does this have to do with global warming? until he makes his point with a vengeance.
My thanks to Matt Groening for the Simpson-esque episode with the gigantic ice cube.
I strongly recommend watching this documentary, it was one of the most interesting movies I've seen in the last twelve months.
deep_schismic
It was an interesting film...though I think the points made at the end could've been made more effective if they actually showed Gore doing some of those things. Like you wonder if he drives a hybrid car for example...In the movie all you see is him in his limos, driving a Lincoln, or getting out of a cab...

@sarabyrd- the simpsonesque-episode is a clip from Futurama, episode entitled 'Crimes of the Hot'...and they solve the problem of global warming by actually moving the earth further from the sun haha
UrbanAngel
I commented on that to Sarabyrd; he's jetting off all over the place to give that lecture, can't be good for the environment wink.gif

The Simpson-esque episode was created for the documentary, it's a guy explaining to a curly-haired lisping anti-Lisa about the warming of the oceans and how the U.S. just drops a big ice-cube into the water to cool it down. Believe me, I recognize Futurama when I see it - this it isn't.
deep_schismic
hehe I assure you it is from Futurama. i've seen that clip before.

another tidbit: Lawrence Bender showed up as one of the producers in the end credits...great to see Tarantino's longtime producer backing this film
deep_schismic
Here's the YouTube link

and another lovely little clip...A Terrifying Message from Al Gore cool.gif

and the video clip for the song at the end of the movie: "I Need to Wake Up"
