I'm just curious to know what everyones favourite rides in the Oktoberfest fairground are?
I can't go on anything too fast, too high or anything that spins on it'self so my choices will be of the tamer variety.
I'll admit to loving the ghost trains, all 3 of them, particuarly the one where the guy hopped on the cart with us, even if I did scream my head off when i turned around.
I loved one of the smaller rollercoasters, I can't remember the name of it but it had a Conan the Barbarian style figure beside it.
I also spent nearly 2 hours in the Teufelrad, though I didn't participate at 3 euros it's great value for money and I found it hysterically funny(yes I'm easily amused) though unfortunately a boy was injured(broken arm i think) while I was there.

I liked that roller coaster in the back corner, the one that hangs from the track and goes upside down several times. I thought it was as good or better than the one at Busch Gardens in Florida.

BUMPER CARS- the faster the better!
Got friends that got engaged on the weekend, just before the Space/Star RollerCoaster. (Not sure its name- but its not the OlympiaCircle or the EuroStar).

Can't remember what it is called. You sit in a swinging seat and the room revolves around you. All the sensation of "Oh God, this is 'orrible and scary!" without the worry that if some pisshead worker didn't tighten the nuts you could go flying off onto the roof of a beer tent.

Happens all the time. I tripped there one the first Sunday while reffing a boxing-match, we ended up sprawling all over each other. I was bruised from head to toe, including the beginnings of a black eye, and one guy probably had a consussion. But it was fun while it lasted.

The Hex'nschaukel. Absolutely fabulous.
@falconryfan - Not on anything that spins? The Krinoline doesn't revolve very fast and goes up and down as well, plus you get live ooompah-music. Old-fashioned fun.

I was trying to find the Krinoline which ride(s) was it next to?, I was looking forward to trying it but unfortunately I have no sense of direction and couldn't see it.

If you walk up from the Bierkarousel (a ride with a bar on it folks - not to be missed) towards Wet n' Wild and the Nymphenburger Sekt stand, which is at the cross street which leads to Bräurosl's Biergarten. It's a must do really.
Teufelsrad for Schadenfreude, you don't need to go on but can sit laughing while other people fall off.

Dou ever play "gang up on the stranger" with bumber cars?
That's fun and a great mind game. The trick is, don't hit anyone else but the one stranger. And everyone has to keep a straight face with a determined look. Frickin freaky.
A great laugh.

Wilde Maus is great fun, and on the way home stop to watch the slide with the fast conveyor belt thing. It's by the exit to the Wies'n behind the Loewenbrau tent. The ride itself is a bit crap, also been around for a thousand years, the funny bit is watching drunks trying to get to the top.

I remember Hazza telling me last year about a ride that people fall off all the time because they don't hold on.
I don't think he was talking about the Teufelsrad, are there any others that might fit this description?

that's the Toboggan. Edit: That was an answer to HellesAngel, but it applies to ER as well. Though they don't fall off, they just fall down on the conveyor belt.

Gen is right, Toboggan is the ride. And the people fall off because they do hold on, or because they step onto the belt with one foot. WRONG! Take a running jump onto the belt, land leaning forwards, straighten up and wave to the crowd. Do NOT hold on!

hold on to the handsome fella helping you up, that's how I do it. Never fallen down yet.

Yes, I've noticed those blokes do enjoy helping the ladies up, and get them up with their dignity in tact. The guys just get hauled up by the scruff of the neck or allowed to ride up on their arses. Highly amusing, never tried it meself but looks good for some public humiliation.

I did the Tobaggan thingy two times the other day with a friend - bailed completely on the first go, barely made it standing the 2nd, and I wasn't even particularly drunk. Its great fun, the only thing that was missing was having other friends standing in the crowd to laugh at me and my friend!

I adore the Taboggan... it looks so tame but it is fun.. and I admit, I have not managed to stay standing yet, drunk or sober, and routinely ascend on my arse I am getting used to large crowds of people laughing at me now... I've tried all the tricks and followed all the tips... it is just not meant to be for me. I even got carpet burn from the slidey bit at the end.

Wouldn't it be great if the kid had thrown the rope up, it caught on the stuffed wrecking ball, dude pulls and gets twatted in the snot by said ball? I was just thinkin' that'd be Schadenfreude.

Yes, I've had many a great ride home after an extended 'Bierzelt' ride. It's cool, the entire planet swirls like that rollercoaster and even when lying flat on the floor it feels like you're going to fall off. Fantastic.

My favorite ride is similar to the Teufelsrad. You sit on a bench on a circle shaped thing, not tied up to anything. You can hold on to the iron bars on the side, but it's more fun not to, because this thing spins around and goes randomly up and down. This makes you flying off the bench and getting swung all over the place. It spins fast enough that you're not thrown off the bench to the middle I don't know what it's called though...
