A Lot! Read that:
"Passive smoking kills about 53,000 nonsmokers per year, making it the 3rd leading cause of preventable death in the U.S"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_smokingPassive smoking 'killing workers'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/2925633.stmIt's been proved by scientists that passive smoking is at least same dangerous as active smoking.
Read in internet if you have enough brain to operate with
google properly then find out the dangers of passive smoking. There're 100s of articles.
There's NO difference between passive and active smoking if you're in the same room. Passive smoking can be even more dangerous, depending on the way how cigarette is smoked

Errrr... Is there a particular style that is more dangerous to be near?
For those in the vicinity smoke from a cigarette that is lit but is not being smoked (e.g. left to consume itself in an ashtray) is more dangerous than smoke exhaled by the smoker. I assume that's what the earlier poster is referring to.
How many smokers do you know who would let a cigarette 'consume itself' in an ashtray?

YES! There's ONE
Smoke that comes from lower temperature, if you put cigarette aside and you enjoy your beer meanwhile then the temperature of cigarette is lower and more poison arises by glowing. This all goes in the room where other people have to enjoy the bad air.
But if you're sucking cigarette, temperature of fire is higher then less poison (if one can talk about less) is emitted

You'd be surprised, it's easy to get distracted even from such a "pleasurable" activity. I've known people reach for their packet without realising that they already had a cigarette merrily burning away next to them. Also, to many people cigarettes often serve as a prop - they'll hold one while gesticulating and talking but won't necessarily be intent on getting every last drag out of it.

I am a nonsmoker, I don't bitch and moan at everyone who smokes (thank you Keydeck for not lumping us all together), they cannot smoke at my house, but if I go to their house- its their rules, I do like to enjoy a meal without smoke, but will not only attend smokefree restaurants here in Munich, as then it limits you.
Maybe it bothers the smokers that you smell, or are too tall or something. Maybe I just get tired of endless discussions that seriously have no end, for as we think they have finally died down, some buttwipe brings the thread back up.

For those militant nonsmokers- just read last weekend that Barz'n'More on Trappenauerstr just went smokefree. Service and food suck, but hey, its smoke free.

They don't smoke in my home, they go outside. I CHOOSE to go to places where they are because they are my friends and I love them. I would be punishing myself if I didn't as I'd never see them anymore! Of course I don't like second hand smoke but it's a reality, especially here in Europe. Education has nothing to do with it. I'm educated and the D.A.R.E programs actually worked for me. But I'm not naiive about it.
