The phrase "with reckless abandon"

Got a small piece of reading from a Singaporean friend and haven't figured out whether this usage of "abandon" is common or not. It's somewhat inspiration reading.

Instructions of Life...

3. Follow the three R’s:

.Responsibility for all your actions.

...etc.

19. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
Abandon: means zeal, enthusiasm in this context? Is this usage kinda Singapporean or not?

No. It's idiomatic English, means roughly "without care or regard for consequences".

No its normal english, but its only really used in that specific sense, sayings involving "reckless abandon" and that sort of thing, not really everyday speech though. Guess its the opposite to caution, but doesnt carry as negative a vibe as "recklessness".

How about "without inhibitions" as a paraphrase? I would use "reckless abandon" to describe the dancing on the benches at the Wiesn when the atmosphere is right and you're still sober enough to not fall off. No, I am not Singaporean.

It's relatively normal usage...although maybe becoming a bit old fashioned now...

...means "let yourself go" basically...

I must say, I prefer "with gay abandon". Just add it on to any action you want to describe. Its great!
