Hallo mums and dads,
we are a group of Irish, British, American, and Australian parents of 2-6 year olds, and meet Tuesdays from 4-6 pm in the area of Langenfelde. If anyone is interested in meeting us and joining in, feel free! We'd love to meet you.

That sounds great. But where is Langenfelde?
Our son is five years old and almost fluently in English. We are looking for a weekly playgroup where english speaking kids come together. Either we are looking for an excisting group or if we can find enough people interested making up a new one. If somebody knows anything, just interested or can help us please let us know. We do have a hard time finding something to keep up with his English. We just got back from the US after 4 years and no Kindergarden or School is available here north of Hamburg. Therefore a weekly half day playgroup would be great.

Hi, I arrived in hamburg in Aug 06, my 1 year old son and I are eager to meet english speaking people and it would be great for him to be in a regular playgroup. My sister in law would also be interested, she has a 3 year old daughter. Is there anything in the pipe line we could attend?

Hi,
my children Carolin (4) & Justus (3) are growing up with German and English. Unfortunately, we don't know any other native English speakers in Wedel (Wedel borders on Rissen (HH) in the West of HH).
I am bi-lingual. Half German, half English.
If you live in Blankense, Rissen, Wedel or Holm, and your children fit age-wise, I'd love to meet up with you.

Hi!
I am looking for a (play-)group of children 2.5 years old and up in Eimsbüttel or near it. I've attended the one in Altona a few times and have even founded one myself at the Elternschule Eimsbüttel, but it seems that only toddlers (and their parents) go to playgroups...!
Emil is nearly 3 years old now. We've raised him English and German but since I am the only person speaking English to him he only ever anwers in German. I would very much like him to get in touch with other English-speaking children so he can finally use his English actively!
Does the playgroup in Langenfelde still exist? That sounded perfect!
We don't need much of a program. I would be quite happy if there were one or two families in Eimsbüttel who would like to meet up on a regular basis!
Best wishes, Nicolette

Are there any English speaking playgroups in the Ottensen/Altona area?
I'm new to town with two kids (2 & 4) who are in some serious need of new playmates. I wouldn't mind a chat either

Sorry I wasn't able to make the day in the park. Would have been great, but never mind. Perhaps next time.
Still, does anyone have any info about English speaking playgroups?

Lollipops is a playgroup that teaches kids English in a playful way. Obviously your children can already speak English but the group is about having fun. There are groups held all around hamburg.

Hi, I am new to the area... a native Californian. My husband is originally from Hamburg. We are here on a 2 year expat assignment. My son is 3 and we would enjoy meeting for a morning playgroup. We live near Buchholz, but I am willing to travel (Oma & Opa live in Harburg).
English and/or German speaking would both be fine.

@ Mlovett I have been here 11 weeks and am yet to find a suitable play group. My daughter is 4.5 and my son is 2.5. They are desperate for some playmates. Perhaps we could meet up some time, you are most welcome at my place, or if the weather were fine we could meet up at a playground. Excuse my ignorance, I have no idea where Buchholz is. I am in Ottensen.

hi there, my son is 2.5 and I would be really keen to get a regular get together going for him too. My house is also an option on bad weather days, but we could also organise some day trips too? I find hamburg really easy to travel round using the s and u bahn so I am pretty easy where we meet.

Hi purple-hoggy, right now I am in the middle of nowhere... Garstedt... as we cannot truly move in until our container ship arrives. But I do have a rental car. We have to move to Egestorf this week, and will be there for a few weeks. Our home will be in Holm-Seppensen (just south of Hamburg), which has a train station, so it's easy to get to from Hamburg (Ottensen is part of HH, right?). So until I get settled, perhaps meeting at a park? I did do a weather check and had the depressing news that there will be more rain, rain, rain this week. Being a native of California, I am having a hard time adjusting to the weather! I don't what is harder, the culture shock, or the weather shock.
My son is also missing having playmates. We were involved in many groups back home. Will you look for a Kindergarten? We got one of the last 2 spots in our area... whew!
Anyway, enough rambling. We could meet after this little move to Egestorf... so that would be starting this Friday. Is there a nice park in Ottensen? Or an indoor type of kids' playspace, if it's raining? I am still researching all this type of stuff... we have great "play cafes" back home.
