SO36 - nightclub and concert/party venue

SO36 is known as one of the party and concert venues in Kreuzberg.

Located on Oranienstraße since 1990, it is named after the historic Berlin postal address for that district (Südost 36).

Every Monday is "Electric Ballroom", claiming to be one of the most consistent techno events in Berlin. Wednesdays are "Kurzurlaub" with electro/techno/house music, and Sunday evenings are "Cafe Fatal" with dance courses and "Schlagerkarussel". And once a month is the "Nacht Flohmarkt" - a night time flea market, often with live DJ's providing music.

Anyone been to this? Opinions to share?

I went to SO36 for a concert my very first week here in Berlin (back in June).. Ended up in the hospital with a broken nose.. I haven't been back since.

A case of "Café Fatal" almost living up to its name? I'm not surprised you haven't been back since. Hope the fracture has healed properly.

Yikes. I saw two shows there last fall (Dick Dale and the Antidote Tour, in particular Gogol Bordello). Can't recall anything bad happening, and the GB show got pretty energetic.

That's...interesting.

I saw a couple of shows last year as well...nothing out of the ordinary I think...just a fairly big wharehouse in the middle of K-berg (the neighborhood is a little frightening I have to admit). Crowds were decent and fairly ordinary...a lot of teenagers hammered. Definitely no fist-a-cuffs though.

I was at the fleamarket my very first night in Berlin. I had been awake for around 36 hours and had no idea where I was. It was awesome.
