So Sven's been offered the job, but City's supposed new owner has just, apparently, been charged with corruption...
3 Lions
Spurs win a major trophy!
Jimbo
Yeah, nice to end the season on a high like that, though I hear that Jermain Defoe struggled with his shooting a little...

Thierry Henry is leaving Arsenal for Barcelona !!!

Story Here

QUOTE
Arsenal have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of striker Thierry Henry.
The deal, thought to be worth about £16m to the Gunners, is subject to the Frenchman, 29, passing a medical, which is set to take place on Monday.
gooner_gal
Well, it was either going to be this closed season or next. To be honest I'm not surprised. I think we should have cashed in last year for 50 mill instead of the 16 mill we're getting this year. Oh well *sigh*
Sin
I predict Wenger will be manager of Barcelona within 12 months.
gooner_gal
He'll see out his contract an then go. I have resigned myself to that...
Jimbo
Hahahahahahaahaahahaha.

That is all.
3 Lions
I was right!

QUOTE
Sven-Goran Eriksson has agreed a three-year contract in principle to take over as Manchester City manager.
Jimbo
Didn't think he'd be interested in managing in the lower leagues, but that's certainly where he'll be managing come May 2008.
bluedave
Now, now Jimbo, ya bad boy. dry.gif
3 Lions
Sven taking over was my first prediction, this was my second. Which I also hope comes true.

QUOTE (3 Lions @ Jun 4 2007, 5:37 pm) *
I'll put a bet down that Sven, should he take over at City will deliver their first piece of major silverware since the...since the...errrr

Actually thats not to take the piss, I cant remember if the last trophy was the FA Cup or the League Cup?

Odds on City at the moment -

FA Cup - 70/1
Leage Cup - 40/1
Crawlie
I am sure they will go for the UI Cup next year
3 Lions
I guess its a good job the season is over. Otherwise the game at Sheff Wednesday may have been called off because of a spot of water on the pitch.

BLT
Who left the flood lights on?
Silly Point
They'll have to bring on the subs
BLT
And we are now DEEP into injury time and the Sheffield Wednesday are sending WAVE after WAVE of attacking play Cmon you Owls!

Real Madrid sack manager Capello

Sven-Gormless Eriksson has probably shat himself and is screamin' to sign some light blue paperwork.
JOB
Quote of the week...

"It feels like the decision Thierry Henry has had to make regarding going to Barcelona." - Paul Ince, on leaving Macclesfield to manage MK Dons.
BLT
There is talk of Real Madrid replacing Capello with Bernd Schuster the Getafe Manager but can anybody see Schuster doing anything! I think Benitez would be a better option he is a European Cup specialist but not league one though!
bluedave
Do you think there's any chance at all that Sven may not go to City and go to Real instead? Please? rolleyes.gif
BLT
Who knows? he might just being using City as a bargaining chip but then again Paul Ince might be doing the same thing as well! It gonna the be the Paul Ince Gary Owen Dream Team with their names being chanted by the Colin Bell end every other week!

Rafa Benítez has already turned them down.

You are aware that he did win La Liga twice in three years with Valencia, aren't you?
JOB
And Bent's off to Tottingham

Bargin!!!
BLT
No I forgot he won the League twice with Valencia but he lost the European Cup twice in a row as well with Valencia. If Real Madrid want to win La Liga then and get them to European Cup Final then he would be the perfect man. And let's be honest he no closer to winning the prem now than when he first started with Liverpool!
bluedave
Everton in for Alan Smith.

I'm sure Everton fans will be delighted with this news, NOT ! Another badge kisser. dry.gif

No he didn't. That was Héctor Cúper.

Maybe, but as I explained above, he has already told them he's not interested.

LFC are a much better side now than when he took over, btw. Agree that we haven't looked like winning the league since he's been in charge but in 2006 we had a record points total since football was invented the Premiership began in 1992.

I'm sorry to see Luis go - although I'll bet Chelsea are glad to see the back of him - he had a knack of scoring in important games.

Slightly apprehensive about the massive sum being spent on Torres as well. He is an exciting talent with a lot of experience for someone so young but the pressure will be on him to deliver and he has never been a prolific goalscorer. Still, it's proof that the new owners are prepared to back up their rhetoric with cash.

Blades lose appeal. Yawn, what a surprise, etc.

I know what you mean about badge kissers. I hate that. Although, you'd have to agree that Smith does give everything when he plays for a team. No question on commitment.

Sven-Goran Eriksson, who is poised to become the manager of Manchester City, believes he will need to sign at least 10 players to bring success to the club. (Daily Mirror)

From BBC. Looks like a return to a few years ago and a massive squad.

Ooo! Hello: Man Utd close in on striker Tevez
BlueSte
Well he already has the looks to settle well into Manchester.
Expat Mat
I watched a few clips of him on Youtube the other day and he looks ucking fawesome. I don't understand how it took him so long to score for West Ham.
SleeplessInMunich
Bloody great. Lets just sell every good player we ever get onto Chelsea or ManU. dry.gif
Expat Mat
I don't think West Ham will turn down 20+M if its offered. How much did they pay for him?

Who? blink.gif

So, West Ham warned they face further disciplinary action over Tevez.

It seems that West Ham still do not own Tevez' contract, does that not mean that Sheff Utd are right and the Hammers should, in fact, be relegated as they lied when they said they had sorted it?
Sin
There's a persistant rumour going around that the PFA are distributing Sven Gormless Eriksson's number...

...and providing training on how to use the Call Blocking service.
