Ahh... you should know, its Man Poo, the ref has to favour Man Poo.
Oh! I see. If that's the case we'll take those two perfectly legal goals scored by Larsson against Pompei then. Swings and roundabouts mate, swings and roundabouts.
Crawlie
Feb 4 2007, 6:56 pm
It ain't the standard excuse though. Larsson got a yellow card for absolutely nothing and the ref has just been totally off the ball. No favouritism here at all as ManPoo played great footie int he second half and deserves the victory.
Yeah, well, still swings and roundabouts. It ain't the first game to see bad refereeing decisions, and I'm sure it won't be the last. About time they had Collina in the do a bit of training for The Facking Arseholes (FA).

So, i see the yanks have bought Liverpool now.
Can someone explain to a simple lad like myself what the angle is in these people paying hundreds of millions for Premiership Clubs ?
Very few make a profit and even those that do would take 20 years or more to pay back the purchase price of the club, let alone make a profit for the new owner (s).

Well thanks to the new TV deal, Premiership clubs will get even more money. The club that finishes bottom will get 30M, which is more than 6th place got last year.
In fact in relation to the 2012 thread. In 2012, promotion to the Premiership will be scrapped. This will be voted for by the league which will consist of every team being owned by a foreign investor.

Bluedave, i think the point is, with one of the big 4 clubs you make a profit...if you put 20 years into it and make back the purchase price you then sell it on for an equal or greater amount - thus generating a 400m etc. profit. The club is an asset, nothing more.

Classic, the Liverpool Reds can never slag off the Manchester Buccaneers again

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has moved to appease fans concerned by some comments made by new joint-owner George Gillett.
Gillett, who has bought the club with fellow American tycoon Tom Hicks, called the Merseysiders a "franchise" and "Liverpool Reds".
Was sent a dodgy rumour that Lampard is being a right tit about Barton being in the England squad he won't talk to him, pass to him and all that kind of stuff.
At breakfast when Barton went to join the table Lampard was sat at, Lampard stood up and moved to another table.
As soon as he stood up to move, Barton called after him "Don't worry, I wasn't going to nick your breakfast you fat prick"
Lampard threw a hissy fit and stormed out.
As I said possibly a tat dodgy, but if true that's funny as
Following the takeover of Liverpool FC they have decided on a crest already. They have replaced the old Liver Bird with a new more meaningful picture which shows both American Sport and Scouse past-time commonalities.
I think it suits quite well.

On a much more serious note(I'm surpised this hasnt been discussed).
Lille will lodge an official complaint over Man Utds winning goal from Tuesdays Chumps league game.
Lille to lodge an official complaint.
Well, first off, I aint a Man Poo fan and do pretty much hate them with a passion, but there were several instances on the night that the behaviour of the French was appalling. The Police completely over reacted to the fans by firing tear gas in to the crowd, had there been many more fans, we could have easily seen serious injury or even deaths from the ensuing crush. Fans that did try to escape were beaten back in to the crush or arrested after getting out of the stands.
Then on to the goal...The French coach said that 'It is tradition in France' for the team to lodge a complaint with the ref by walking off the pitch...since when? In all my time watching football I have never heard of this happening, I seem to remember Steve Bruce doing something similar at Arsenal, but he's a cunt anyway.
For once I am in agreement with SAF, It was pure intimidation and it incited the crowd, these scenes dont belong in the Chumps league. Lille should be kicked out of the comp.
TheDevilHimself
Feb 22 2007, 1:05 pm
Completely agree with you 3Lions.
Regarding the Man U goal, the French need to check the rule book. If the player asks the refree if he can take a quick free kick (as Giggs HAD done), the refree doesnt need to check the fomation of the wall and the player is allowed to take the freekick without the whistle. In this case the player then risks the presence of any other players in front of the ball less than 10yards away. Thats why in Premiership there are some opposition players always in front of the ball when the wall is being formed. Thiery Henry has scored such goals so many times. And if the player decides to wait for the whistle then the ref makes sure that the wall is 10 yards away and then blows the whistle.
And the Lille goal which was dissallowed was a perfectly correct decision too. There was a foul on Vidic and the ref and the assistant ref both called the foul. Big decision and a brave decision. Any team is entitled to feel gutted in this scenario but attempting to walk out of the game is absolutely ridiculous and childish !!!
As far a the crowd trouble is concerned, I am surprised nobody was injured. Total overreaction by the police and mismanagement by the ground officials. Apparently there was a whole section on the opposite end which was empty. Why werent the fans moved to that space?
And now Lille has the audacity to ask for a replay. They should be first of all penalized for trying to walk out of a European game. If they come of this unpunished, what sort of precedant will it set to the other teams !!!

He's right though - Steve Bruce is a GIANT cunt. And I agree with 3Lions entirely as well - I'm no fan of Man U, but they scored a fair goal within the rules of the game. As for the French police - I think their reaction was shocking and very dangerous indeed. I'd like to see Lille kicked out and the French way of policing and organising games put under proper scrutiny (apparently the Stade de France had been considered for this game and then rejected - why?).

Not exactly a scum sympathiser myself but on this one it has to be obvious to all concerned that Lille should be booted out.
Furthermore,EUFA should censure themselves for allowing the game to take place in a stadium that doesn't meet it's own standards and they should make sure that any tuesday league games in the future only take place in approved stadia.

Amazing. The French weren't even checking tickets on the way in and people who'd turned up without tickets were allowed into the ground, so to come out with that statement is just childish and pathetic. They've really showed themselves to be a smalltime club who can't be taken seriously when they had a real opportunity to make a good impression to the rest of Europe.
