Blatter eyes goal line technology.
QUOTE
The chief of football's world governing body said it would either be a system with a chip-embedded ball triggering a sensor, or using a goal-line camera.
"I am sure that at the end of 2007 when we play the World Club Cup then we will have goal-line technology," he said.
"But we will not have video technology and stop the game."
He also takes a swipe at the big clubs who are swallowing up all the better players -
QUOTE
"The big clubs with a lot of money they can afford to buy players - a lot of players, and the best players - and they have 25-30 players in their list.
"But football, association football is played by 11 players. What are the others doing? Waiting? Recuperating?
"They cannot play, all of them cannot play. Already in Europe now there are teams who, after a third of the competition, cannot win (the title).
"If that level of competition is missing, then there is something wrong with our sport and we have to tackle it."
Hang on a second, Blatters making sense, there's something fishy going on here...

Rummenigge considers pulling Bayern from the G-14QUOTE
Money, according to Rummenigge, is killing the game.
"Everybody in the G-14 thinks only about themselves," he explained.
"I will say it absolutely clearly: (Ramon) Calderon (Real Madrid president) and his colleagues only fight for themselves.
"So do the Italians and the English. There is a level of pure egotism in football."
And another one talking sense. What the hell is going on!?

ATHLETIC have slashed admission prices to only £2 and £1 for their next two fixtures at Boundary Park.
The massive discounts, in association with the Oldham Evening Chronicle and Hillstone Developments, will cover games against Brighton on December 16 and Northampton Town on December 23.
Neither match was expected to draw a big crowd, but Athletic are now hoping for bumper attendances which will inspire the team in their push for promotion. John Sheridan’s side are fourth in Coca-Cola League One after last night’s victory over Crewe – their sixth win in a row.

I think Mourinho has got a point with his latest suggestion.
Mourinho wants reserves to play in lower leaguesQUOTE
Mourinho claimed English football should follow the example of Spain, where big clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are allowed to field their B teams lower down the professional football ladder.
The B teams cannot be promoted, and they are not allowed to enter Spanish cup competitions.
This systems works very well throughout Europe with top clubs having the "Amateur" or reserve teams playing in the lower leagues. They cannot be promoted and some countries do not allow them to enter the cup competitions.

Dec 11 2006, 12:51 pm
Not sure I agree with that. They're bad enough at the moment, spending GBP20m on players just to stick them on the bench or in the stands. I'm not sure it would be good for the Championship to see a Chavsea reserve team full of internationals winning that league every season as well as the Premier.
Cracking goal by Essien yesterday, mind.

Dec 11 2006, 1:00 pm
I think one of the clear benefits would see more money being filtered in to the lower divisions. I dont think you'd get a team full of internationals playing for Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal in the Championships or lower. I reckon most of them would refuse to drop down a league and am pretty sure there would be strict rules on the transfers. You couldnt have one person play in the Championship one month and then in the premier league the week after.

Dec 11 2006, 1:29 pm
Considering the amount of cash Chelsea have at their disposal the latest comments from Mourinho strike me as those of a man starting to feel the pressure.
He has expressed a desire to manage in Italy and Inter are showing intrest at the moment. Also if he doesn't win the Champions League maybe Abramovich will lose patience. If he does win it maybe Mourinho will move on to take up a new challenge. Either way an interesting season for Chelsea.
Chelsea are "preparing the ground" in anticipation of Jose Mourinho walking out on the club at the end of the season, according to the Daily Express.
Mourinho has hinted at quitting three times in the past two seasons, despite his position as the highest-paid manager in the world and an unlimited budget that makes winning the Premiership about as challenging as taking candy from a baby.
And, says the Express, Chelski have told players' agents 'they cannot guarantee Mourinho will be in charge at Stanford Bridge next season.'
