bluedave
There is that, utd may get knocked out now rolleyes.gif
Scogs
well they get Benfica next round and Man Poo need a draw, but Benfica need to win to go through, so as a Celtic fan I thank the Danish, and hope we draw FCB in the knockout (in the semi finals would be good)
Crawlie
To be fair. It was a free kick that should not have been and the penalty was a bit harsh too.
Expat Mat
Thats a fair point. I think I would have been annoyed if the pen was given the other way.

Still gutted this morning! Don't even want to read the sports on the net. ph34r.gif

go on, its great biggrin.gif

Blatter eyes goal line technology.

QUOTE
The chief of football's world governing body said it would either be a system with a chip-embedded ball triggering a sensor, or using a goal-line camera.

"I am sure that at the end of 2007 when we play the World Club Cup then we will have goal-line technology," he said.

"But we will not have video technology and stop the game."
He also takes a swipe at the big clubs who are swallowing up all the better players -

QUOTE
"The big clubs with a lot of money they can afford to buy players - a lot of players, and the best players - and they have 25-30 players in their list.

"But football, association football is played by 11 players. What are the others doing? Waiting? Recuperating?

"They cannot play, all of them cannot play. Already in Europe now there are teams who, after a third of the competition, cannot win (the title).

"If that level of competition is missing, then there is something wrong with our sport and we have to tackle it."

Hang on a second, Blatters making sense, there's something fishy going on here...

QUOTE
Blatter, whose presidency ends next spring

Ah, that explains it. Touting for another term I'd wager.

Rummenigge considers pulling Bayern from the G-14

QUOTE
Money, according to Rummenigge, is killing the game.
"Everybody in the G-14 thinks only about themselves," he explained.
"I will say it absolutely clearly: (Ramon) Calderon (Real Madrid president) and his colleagues only fight for themselves.
"So do the Italians and the English. There is a level of pure egotism in football."

And another one talking sense. What the hell is going on!?
bluedave
It'll never catch on Lions, don't worry. wink.gif

Bastard Chelski are after Micah Richards now for 15 million earth pounds dry.gif

Surely Micah will realise that he doesn't want splinters in his arse all season like SWP has had and stay with his beloved City ? unsure.gif
3 Lions
Get him sold. Oldham needs the cash.

We can use the money to build an extra Pie stand or sommat.

Ah! That explains young Barton showing his arse. He was only sayin', "Look, no splinters." was he? SWP is gonna be an 'ammer come the end of January anyway.

JOB
Yep, just saw this 3 month loan...Henke, NOOOOOOO!!!
XabiAlonso
Oh, Christ. I've always liked him until now.

Now I'm going to have to detest the man.
Expat Mat
I dare say he will hardly kick a ball as he's there for cover for injured OG Solskjaer. Its is strange as the loan is only for 3 months. Still, not as strange as signing Andy Goram! wacko.gif

Sir Alex Ferguson says the signing of Henrik Larsson on loan is a "terrific boost" to the club.

I would have thought if anything Henrik would have gone to Celtic or to Aston Villa

Dubai International Capital to take control of Liverpool.

Crumbs. We may no longer be skint. It's in all the papers, but I linked to De Ecko because the journo there has very good links with the club, who use him to leak stuff, so if it's written by him, there's a fair chance it's come straight from the horse's mouth, as it were.

I believe that this rumour is indeed true. Blimey. £450m apparently.

TOP BANANA!!!

I fly home next week, I catch two home games whilst I'm in the UK - Brighton next week and Northampton on the 23rd!!

QUOTE
ATHLETIC have slashed admission prices to only £2 and £1 for their next two fixtures at Boundary Park.
The massive discounts, in association with the Oldham Evening Chronicle and Hillstone Developments, will cover games against Brighton on December 16 and Northampton Town on December 23.

Neither match was expected to draw a big crowd, but Athletic are now hoping for bumper attendances which will inspire the team in their push for promotion. John Sheridan’s side are fourth in Coca-Cola League One after last night’s victory over Crewe – their sixth win in a row.

Manpoo 1 down to Benfica. Ah well. At least they will have done better than last year in that they will qualify for the UEFA cup if it stays like this...
Schotte
looking better for man u now... (2-1)

well done celtic! (losing 3-0) showing how worthy of a place!!

All English teams finished first in their groups.

well Pirulero might not be so keen on this being included in 'British' gossip, but he should be pleased that Gib are close to UEFA inclusion

I think Mourinho has got a point with his latest suggestion.

Mourinho wants reserves to play in lower leagues

QUOTE
Mourinho claimed English football should follow the example of Spain, where big clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are allowed to field their B teams lower down the professional football ladder.

The B teams cannot be promoted, and they are not allowed to enter Spanish cup competitions.

This systems works very well throughout Europe with top clubs having the "Amateur" or reserve teams playing in the lower leagues. They cannot be promoted and some countries do not allow them to enter the cup competitions.
XabiAlonso
Not sure I agree with that. They're bad enough at the moment, spending GBP20m on players just to stick them on the bench or in the stands. I'm not sure it would be good for the Championship to see a Chavsea reserve team full of internationals winning that league every season as well as the Premier.

Cracking goal by Essien yesterday, mind.
3 Lions
I think one of the clear benefits would see more money being filtered in to the lower divisions. I dont think you'd get a team full of internationals playing for Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal in the Championships or lower. I reckon most of them would refuse to drop down a league and am pretty sure there would be strict rules on the transfers. You couldnt have one person play in the Championship one month and then in the premier league the week after.
bluedave
United already have a feeder team in Antwerp, i think separate leagues is a better way to go, no conflict of interest.
pepper
Apparently loud mouth Mourinho is claiming Arsenal is co-operating with Manchester United to stop the Blues winning the Premiership. I actually thought Arsenal were trying to win to climb up the Premiership.

Although was a cracking game yesterday.

Not true. I suspect it is Shevchenko who is the United mole, waste of Ukrainian space that he is. How much did he cost again? laugh.gif
Wibble
Considering the amount of cash Chelsea have at their disposal the latest comments from Mourinho strike me as those of a man starting to feel the pressure.

He has expressed a desire to manage in Italy and Inter are showing intrest at the moment. Also if he doesn't win the Champions League maybe Abramovich will lose patience. If he does win it maybe Mourinho will move on to take up a new challenge. Either way an interesting season for Chelsea.

Chelsea are "preparing the ground" in anticipation of Jose Mourinho walking out on the club at the end of the season, according to the Daily Express.

Mourinho has hinted at quitting three times in the past two seasons, despite his position as the highest-paid manager in the world and an unlimited budget that makes winning the Premiership about as challenging as taking candy from a baby.

And, says the Express, Chelski have told players' agents 'they cannot guarantee Mourinho will be in charge at Stanford Bridge next season.'

Alan Padrew might be the next manager to get the sack. West Ham will make a statement on his future at 3:15PM today smile.gif

Shame. I liked Pardew. I'm sure the fuckin' about with The Argies didn't help.

So who now? Harry 'Mr. West Ham' Redknapp would be great, but I can't see him coming up the A3.

Do I hear Mr. Alan Curbishley in the background?
Lassie
shocking sacking pardew. he's a good manager working under tough circumstances what with all the uncertainty surrounding the club recently. and the fans were behind him.

who the hell are they going to get now? Trevor Brooking again?

They've nicked someone for the Ronnie Wallwork stabbing.
