Sky are reporting that some managers have been betting on results...one manager is reported to have bet 12 million...do they earn that? not sure that even chelsea, man poo or arsenal pay that kind of money

City should sell him, or at least I hope they do. He's a product of the Latics youth system and we stand to get about a million if he gest sold...and we need the money more than you greedy premiership snobby twats!!

I'm surprised he's being called up rather than Leighton Baines who has played pretty well for the U21's and Wigan recently.
Still, McClaren has no idea what he's doing. He's just throwing in some new faces to prove that he can shake the squad up a bit (and Cole is suspended for the next Euro qualifier). Shame he can't motivate players for shit though.

Wibble sorry to disagree here but did MacClaren not bring his club team back twice from a 3 - 0 deficit.Once i could say was lucky but twice???
Wibble
Nov 10 2006, 10:59 am
He did that by sending them out with shit or non existant tactics. When losing badly he would stick on 5 strikers and usually against more mediocre teams it would work as he had some fairly decent strikers at Boro.
However it failed miserably against a reasonably decent team culminating in utter humiliation against Sevilla. If tactics is all about sending out a team with no real plan and then when you are getting thumped chucking on loads of strikers then anyone could manage a football team.

Looks like the Arsenal rediscovered the ability to score!
Liverpool looked pretty weak to be honest - I think they'll struggle to get in the Champions League next season.
So, we're third, game in hand, back on form - I think second is a distinct possibility. It pains me to say that I still think Man Utd will win it this season.

Liverpool were exceptionally poor, they all seemed to develop nose bleeds venturing past the half way line. As for the team selection, shocking ! Pennant should have been there from the start, and as for speedy Gonz... wish he would run off somewhere else and allow the real players to play. Liverpool seem to becoming more and more a cup team.
Agree, if they continue like this, they are going to have huge problems later.

It was the same story we saw against the Bitters, against Chavsea and against the Mancs - start off well enough, look quite comfortable if not overly threatening, then a moment of stupidity and we're a goal down and you can see confidence draining from the players. The subsequent capitulation was very embarrassing.
In fairness, we've been through seasons where we've lost away to the Bitters, Chavsea, Arsenal and Mancs and no one's really noticed, because those games have been spread across ten months of the season rather than packed into the first three. But the failure to pick up a single point from those games (or even a goal FFS) means we haven't been able to get any momentum going at all and as a result our league season's fvcked in November.

The moment of "stupidity" against Chelsea was Drogba scoring a wonder goal. You can hardly be blamed for buying shite like Craig "come and have a go then" Bellamy, and that reject Pennant instead of a decent player or two...

@Don - Actually Pennant is better than other players in the squad, and when he came on, he did actually make a difference. As for Bellamy, its early days. Some players need some time, and not all clubs can pay 3 times what the player really is worth, just to stick him on the bench. Its not like you cannot say that Chelski have not bought a bad player or two, its just Liverpool do not pay as much as Chelski would for shite.

Sorry. Pennant is shit. If he is so good then why start Gerrard out right and leave him on the bench? Surely if he is the "specialist" in the field then he should be starting, leaving Gerrard to play the central midfield role. Nope. Sorry. Bad buy

Early days? He is a aggressive little shit who has the talent to be a zemi-decent player but never will fulfil that potential as he is more interested in nobbling his opponents. He is talented in missing absolute fucking sitters and generally not really contributing much. We should never have bought him. Ever. The sooner he fucks off the better - it certainly will not weaken our attacking line up

Not really gossip but one of those moments in football that makes me feel all warm inside. So. ManPoo v Sheffield. Christiano "The Magic fairy" Ronaldo standing totally unmarked in the centre about 3 yards out. The cross comes in fairly gently from Giggs and along the ground but perfectly directed straight at Ronaldo. Goalkeeper is totally stranded and he has the simple task of tapping in to make it 3:1 to ManPoo. The "man" duly delivers a classic moment and puts it well over the bar.. Oh how the fans laughed. We will be seeing this one again and again and again and again...
