Michael Ammar, one of the biggest names in close-up magic today, is coming to Munich for two lectures. The first one will take place in Bürgerhaus Pullach Vereinsheim on September 21, 2006. The lecture will start at 8 PM, and it is organized by Zauberzentrale. Entrance costs €25.
The second lecture is on the following day, in Zauberring München. Unfortunately, I was not able to obtain more information about this. There is a possibility that the second lecture is a members-only event, since the Zauberring is a club (unlike Zauberzentrale, which is a shop).
Michael Ammar is dubbed "the Rock Star of Magic". He was the winner of the Gold Medal for Close-up Magic in FISM in 1983, the most prestigious magic competition in the world, and he became the second American to ever win this much coveted prize. He was a student of Dai Vernon, a.k.a. the Professor or the Man who Fooled Houdini, one of the most influential figures in the art of close-up and especially card magic. Ammar is a prolific artist and an innovative magician, with many books, articles and instructional videos/DVDs to his name. For more on Ammar and his magic, visit his official website.
So, if your interest in magic goes beyond being a spectator (or a heckler), this is an opportunity you should not pass. If you are a mere spectator and hope to find out about some tricks, you will be bored out of your skull.
Hope to see you there.
