Hi Kew,
I am also looking at this right now and I can tell you that Sauter offer this service.
There are two levels usually offered:
The first is canvas-like and is really on a wooden board, this is the cheaper option at something like €40 for 45cm x 30cm.
An actual canvas of 45cm x 30cm costs around €45, but you then have to pay more if you want it on a wooden (adjustable) frame. By frame I mean the main back frame, not a picture frame around it for decoration.
I am also currently investigating another option which is a company somewhere between Erding and the airport.
If you wanted to print lots, maybe even make a business of it, then I would recommend buying the Epson 7800 wide format printer (24") which uses professional inks but is great quality. I think the price is just over €2000

I get digital prints on canvas (long banners) for around €45 per square metre, max about 1.5m wide...

I may be interested in knowing where and how?
Do they take RAW files or only JPEG?
Is it only canvas or mounted on a frame?

thanks for these responses. will check out Sauter as suggested. the canvas streched on a wooden back frame is what i am after, so this might do the trick. YorkshireLad6, any details about the co you use?

Drückerei Stadler Although his webpages show his address outside of the city, his printing work is near
Ostbahnhof. Prices do not include any frames, special finishing or MwSt. He can take most file formats, but may charge if he has to work or convert an image in anyway. Photographic images of decent resolution at this size make for BIG files. I usually have graphics (e.g. logos or text banners) printed which are vector files and therefore much more manageable. I'm not sure he speaks much, or any English if that's relevant.

The "frame" or "wooden back frame" is called a stretcher.
Why would you want to print photos onto a canvas? Seriously...
