Hi,

We are expecting a baby in the end of January. Can someone help me finding out pre-natal gymnastics/yoga courses in English. I contacted these people at www.hebammenpraxismuenchen.de but they have all courses only in German.

Also, I would like to know about those post-natal (Rückbildung) gymnastics courses as well.

Thanks.

Can anyone recommend any good pre-natal fitness classes?

I'm especially interested in pre-natal water aerobics and pre-natal yoga.

In Taxisklinik there is a charismatic woman named Die Grafin or The Countess. Ask there for her classes. I went to one as a dad.

I've been going to Sivinanda Yoga on Luisenstr. for Schwanger Yoga... It's an okay price if you buy a 10 card; although I would try to do a trial class first. The instruction is mostly in German, I'll ask if I don't get something.
It's Fridays (today) at 5 and it's a little slow paced if you are wanting more fitness: it's a relaxation class mostly in my book although I do more walking and cycling so the stretching is helpful (esp. working on Kegels). And it's a hoot to watch all of the big bellies. An unusual chance to be in a room full of women at varying stages of pregnancy. (I have seen a few women at the class with compression stockings so I have an inkling their doctor asked them to start a fitness program to keep their blood and lympth circulating).

Alternatively one can buy a DVD and I have Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea... purchased on Amazon. There are three women in the video so you can modify your poses according to your physical ability/trimester. This DVD is also not very strenuous.

If you go to a non pregnancy yoga no inversions, too much rotation, or lying on the back after 4-5 mos.smile.gif

Enjoy!

Hi there,

I tried out the Schwangerenschwimmen at the Michaelibad last night and it was a great laugh. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to any pregnant lady!
