The Adventure Club takes place this Sunday night, September 17th at Substanz (short walk from the Wies'n). No oompah bands, but instead there will be 4 great bands playing, for only 3 euros.
The bands are the best that Munich has to offer, plus some non-local acts (this time from Köln), carefully selected by The Adventure Club staff. The concept is different: the stage is already set up, the bands are not allowed to bring their own equipment but must play with whatever's on the stage... bands play two rounds each (yes, you get to see each band play two sets). This month's bands are:
Dear Henry Bliss (Indie-Pop) - Formerly called Bliss, this band produces a sound that can best be described as melodic, pop-induced, and dance-able. Guitar based and certainly influenced by bands like The Beatles, Gomez, and Paul Weller, but with a lead female vocalist (Hannah) who takes it all to the next level.
Anger Management League (Ska / Jazz) - Get ready to move, this band is not messing around. Formed by members of various ska / jazz outfits in Munich, including the internationally-renowned Bluekilla, the Anger Management League has come to take you to skaville in a way that you've never been before.
Intensive Erfrischung (Hip-Hop) - If Dido had stayed with Eminem to collaborate further, they may have sounded like this band. Melodic, but firmly-rooted in hip-hop, IE pairs a female vocalist who has amazing range and achieves truly unique tones with an energetic rapper who will definitely bring the house down.
Endearment (Indie-Rock) - Refreshing, different, certainly the most "indie" or "alternative" band of the night. It's actually hard to describe the style of this band who calls Cologne home, but from the first listen, you know that they are something special. As part of a European-wide tour, Endearment comes to Munich as a special guest of the Adventure Club for one night only.
So all in all, a cool, laid-back Sunday evening with lots of music. Bands play in rounds. In the first round, bands play for 10 minutes (around 2 songs). In the second round, bands play for 20 minutes (around 4-5 songs). No waiting for the stage to be set up. Pure, local, music. m94,5 DJs finish off the night afterwards... nice way to end a weekend and to top off a day at the Oktoberfest.
