I'm moving to Cologne next month and I'll be up for meeting new people so if you can keep yourself entertained till then I'd be up for a drink at some point to meet some english speaking people. I don't speak a word of german YET so I'm sure a beer with full flowing english will be good at some point.

I'm Douglas from New York, also new in the area. I'd love to meet up with some folks and rap a bit in English over some beers. When and where does the gang get together? Send me a shout.

Hello,
I know of two get-togethers in Cologne. The first is an English-speaking get-together, that usually happens on every other Thursday at Leo's, by the Eigelsteinturm. The nearest U-bahn is Ebertplatz. The membership is a mix of English-speakers, and people of other nationalities who want to improve their spoken English.
We also occasionally go out to Metropolis, at Ebertsplatz, to enjoy a film in English, or to the English comedy club, which is held at the Hard Rock Cafe. Details for that are on:
Hollywood's Comedy Nights - CologneWe haven't got a meeting planned for this week, but if anyone would like to join our mailing list for the next meeting, email me at steve at stevedix dot de and I'll get you on the list.

Hello Toytown people!
I moved to cologne about one and half years ago and I'm interested in getting in contact with english speaking people in and around cologne.
I'm from England and have been in Germany for over 20 years now. I'm in my mid forties and hope to find some people my age aswell!
I hope I've written enough information to rouse interest - if not please ask!
P.S. I like indian food and would join in in München if it wasn't so far away!!

Welcome to Koelle, Gire (pron Jeer or Guyer?).
For the impending showdown on Saturday, I'd just head for one of the Irish pubs (there are a couple in the Altstadt).
Could be that there's a bit of a conflict with England-Kenya game though - best to check beforehand.

Hey,
I'm an Australian who has been living in Köln for 8 months. I've been trying to learn German but it's taking me forever to get it! It would be great to meet some more people outside of the work environment, does anyone regularly meet up for beers/movies/dinner? Also, I'm looking for a running club but finding it hard to navigate the german websites, any clues?
Cheers

Hi Jassy,
I'm an Australian down the road in Bonn - but I come up quite often for drinks and movies, so would be happy to meet up sometime.
I don't know anything about running clubs in Cologne but maybe I can help you with the German.
cheers,

I am moving to Cologne in the Next 2 weeks from the US. I am a retired pro basketball player and have traveled the world. I have never been to Germany but have been to many other countries. I just said the hell with the US and made the decision to live abroad. Any fellow Americans or any other country man can give me some info on places to go, where to meet up with other English speakers, and just some all around info on how and where to find jobs and stuff I would appreciate it.

Not an American, but if you look in the Events and Meetups section, you'll find info on what's going on - e.g. there's always meetup on Thursday evenings in a cafe in the city centre.
As for info on jobs, without knowing how good your German is and what type of visa you have it's a bit difficult to say.
See you soon.
