From today's Münchner NachmittagZeitung (loosely translated):
QUOTE
Pope Benedict XVI also revealed another reason for his visit to Munich: "I've been a keen Aussie Rules fan for years now, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow's AFLG final in Munich, between the Munich Roos and the Rheinland Lions. I think the Roos will go back-to-back ... I just can't see Rheinland putting enough points on the board with the dominant backline of the Roos. Munich should also win at the stoppages around the ground and I know a lot of them are regular church goers, which will obviously help." MNZ cannot confirm the rumour that His Holiness will toss the coin before the start of the game, at 2pm at Gartenstadt, Ostpark on Saturday.

I am surprised you even had to ask, Renia.
Obviously a windup, the Lions are clearly going to take this one and the Pope knows it!

His Holiness has also announced that select members of his clergy will be on-hand, so to speak, to provide post-game celebrations for some of the younger members of the team.

You'll never have enough wine and crackers for everyone. It'd take a miracle...

You lost all credibility with the name of the paper - Nachmittagszeitung at 8.52am my foot. Nice try, though.

The Roos won, but I don't think it would have been possible without the pope's help.
Down by 13 points and thoroughly outplayed at half-time, he came into the huddle and gave a rousing speech about having faith. He also said something that confused us about Canada having no morals, but we listened to the faith bit and and we won.
Thanks to the pope...
