AA - Alcoholics Anonymous Germany

English-speaking support and options nationwide

jml
Hello ladies and gents, I came across a bit of information that I thought might be useful to post up. Alcoholics Anonymous Germany offers English speaking support, services, and meetings throughout the country from A to Z, okay at least from Berlin to Wiesbaden and many cities in between. They of course offer German speakers support via Anonyme-Alkoholiker as well.

For those of you that never heard of the AA group, they are self described as:

a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.
AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.

Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help others to achieve sobriety.
For more information on alcoholism visit the ever useful wikipedia.

With the worlds's largest bierfest coming to Bavaria, alcoholics and/or recovering alcoholics living and/or passing through the city might be interested to know that there's an English speaking meetup ever day of the week in Munich. For more information on meetups in Munich visit the good folks at: AA Munich.

Anyone that has or even thinks they or their 'friend' has a drinking problem and wants to seek help, go on and give em a call.

Cheers

PS: This public service announcement has been brought to you by the very depressing sight of a once probably goodlooking but now alcohol ragged looking bloke in his mid 40s pounding drinks away at a pub... solo and speedy like.

So what were you doing at the pub? Watching drunkards as opposed to having a good time - not a good sign, is it? Just a step away from changing your order of mineral water to something more heart warming.
