They have both the 10k and the marathon on the same day. I'm just volunteering to help out this year, so I'm not running.

I'll probably try and do this.
EDIT: Lately I've been running about 5K along the
Isar every Tuesday and Thursday. Very slow pace (~10 minute mile). Anyone interested in getting themselves back into shape is more than welcome to join me. This running is, of course, in addition to the biweekly exercise that I get with the happiest group of runners in Munich, the Munich Hash House Harriers.

I was running up near
Aumeister beer garden this morning (the 33 km mark) and saw them setting up the water etc. By the time I got to Tal the marathon was in full swing and I had to go down into the
U bahn to cross over
Marienplatz, as there was no other way of getting through the runners

. I saw a sign near
Sendlingerstr which indicated that it was the 13km mark.

Whew, that was a really great experience for a first marathon!
There were some really nice English-speaking people handing out candy between the 25 and 26 markers. Toytowners, maybe? It was a great lift!

Yeah, congratulations, marie--we were racing close to each other, then!
Even though my splits were ba-haaaaad, I was happy that I only missed my goal by 50 seconds (although my own watch was a bit more generous than the mika chip). I have to say that I'm just thrilled to have finished, am still alive, and that most of my body is still intact. Oh! And now I have a good excuse to just kind of loaf around tomorrow.

Well done, both of you! My co-worker in the next-door office is training for the New York marathon, she's even taking a couple of months off.

Congratulations to the both of you!
This time last year, I told myself I'd be running this year, but I just didn't have the discipline to do the training so it wasn't to be. I'll do one sometime...
