What's in your childhood closet?

Music, clothes, toys you haven't seen in decades

Arrgh, my sisters been cleaning out storage and closets in my family house. I havent lived there since the 80s and God knows whats in there. Well I do know since she's been leaving me random, albeit hilarious messages, She found a stock of LPs, including an original star trek tv sound trak. been trying to reach her as Im afraid she's binned it. Gah. Oh the humanity.

Anyhoo, if you were to take a trip back into your childhood closets what would you likely find?

Not my childhood closet, but when I came back to the U.S. I found an old range finder camera that was given to me about 10 years ago. It was in storage at my best friends house so it was a nice surprise to see it. In fact I went out shooting with it today. Very very nice...

As far as LPs go, I had lots of K-Tel albums with such titles as Full Tilt and Hot Nights and City Lights. They always had Blondie, Devo, Foreigner and a host of other regulars on them (Hot blooded, check it and see...).

I've also got the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the Restaurant at the End of the Universe on LP. smile.gif

My childhood gayness...

Actually did the cleanout of the wardrobe a couple of weeks ago before moving, and found, among other things, my old school cap (very similar to the Baggy Green), and a little ball of paper tape coloured in red Posca used to put cherry's on my cricket bat as a kid.

Memories...

Well I had to clear out my old room after the olds split up and had to sell the house, the only things mum didnt clean up herself were an old cabbage, cant remember what that was for, and a jar full of semen, for some reason I went through a keeping it phase...

my parents converted my bedroom into a den the day I moved out after uni, so all my stuff went 'missing'. dry.gif
But there was some stuff in the basement. My old Barbies and FisherPrice stuff. Now my niece plays with that stuff.
OhFFS
The monster. The monster is in my childhood closet. Don't open the door!

Little Red-Riding Hood in Spanish, one of the little Golden Books. El Capucito Rojo? Or La Capucita Roja? I forget, I was only 2 at the time.
A Beatnik doll with a drawstring. It would say things like "I'm hip like - uuuuh - a beatnik!" (My Ma has a weird sense of humor).
A 7 foot long knitted, stuffed snake named Hepzibah.
And memories that haunt me even now.

In fact I just drove a 7ft long trailer full of my old childhood shit all the way from Wales.

Mouse Trap? Nope no room for that, had to take it to the charity shop. I dumped loads of books and games at theses shops.

My Scalextric (didnt everyone call it Scalectrix?) had to go in the huge skip we ordered as my parents are moving house, thus the need to bring all my stuff here. They gave me 15 gardening books, some very old ones including Adam the Gardener.

Frustration? Yep we brought that one!

Most dodgy was a 100 year old axe which is huge which I used to chop wood for my Welsh cottage fires. It has already seen use here for logs. Now imagine if they stopped me at customs in Dover with the present climate...!

Weren't we all bonkers for ...

I'm visiting my parents right now. It's not my childhood closet, and my parents made me throw out loads of stuff when they were moving, but there are still a few stuffed animals around that my daughter is now playing with. smile.gif

The funniest are a couple of Holly Hobby dolls from the 70's. Can't find the outfit my mom made so I could match the dolls, though.
HollyGolightly
yea...still there in a box, in my closet, in my parents house
