Paying wages to foreign bank accounts

Working in Germany but receiving the money abroad

Was just curious if anyone has ever asked their company to have their wages paid directly into a foreign bank account instead of a local german one. If you did and were told no, did they give a reason?
Surely with IBAN and BIC codes it should be possible these days.

I used to have it done without any problem.

EADS refuse to pay into my UK account, no reason given though!

I use a Sparkasse account to get my Euros then use the EU transfer which costs less than 1 Euro to my UK account. Easy enough!

They charge you 1 euro to transfer? I thought banks weren't allowed to charge anything at all, if you use the IBAN number.

Work transfers PART of my salary to a UK bank every month - no problem and no charges for me. Not sure if there are any restrictions when the whole salary should be transferred. However, it shouldn't cost them anything if you provide them with your IBAN/BIC details.

I believe they have to charge the same amount for domestic and international transfers (at least within the Eurozone, not sure about UK). Depending on the account setup, a domestic transfer may also cost as much as 1 Euro (though if you really have to pay that much, it's probably advisable to move the account to another bank...)

What about currency exchange? Surely they will charge for that, right? unsure.gif

Applies to all the EU, not just the minority who use the Yoyo as a currency.
