OK, so I’m posting this question on a prayer …Does anyone in Berlin like American football, particularly college football? I know that most of you are British or Australian and you would have little or no interest in America football but there might be just one waiting to get together with someone else, grill some burgers, drink some beer, and watch a couple of football games. Now I know what you are thinking, “it is hard to even get a game on TV, so how is this possible? Well, the answer is ESPN Gameplan, which I have already purchased and it allows me to watch 15 games a weekend. Ok so this is a lot of games and of course you don’t have to watch them all (LOL we can if you want). Someone answer the call and I will get the grill started and the beer on ice.

Hey, I you love to watch some football. College or Pro, never really matters, because the Bears are always terrible. I am really sick of watching highlights on espn.com to get my fill of "home sports".

Well, It is good to know that there is another Bears fan here in Berlin. I'm also a huge University of Florida fan. I'm excited about the possiblity of haveing a football buddy

There is a bar right here in Friedrichshain that plays both college and pro games (I hear it is the only place to catch games). I also have ESPN gameplan so I get like 20 games a week. We have to have one saturday of grilling and drinking and football. When they turn on your private message I will send a PM to you with all my contact info.

hey, what is that bar's name in Friedsrichshain? I'm a huge sports fan, NFL, baseball, NBA, whatever (just not hockey) used to have NASN but now trying to live cheaply while unemployed.
Maybe the Hard Rock café? But there's got to be a place with a bit better atmosphere, right?
thanks a lot!!!

the name of the place is Salama's. It is off of frankfurt tor. The atmosphere is not that great (better sports bars in the states of course) but if you want we can get some people together and do a tail gate there... I think that would be fun. If you are interested just send me a personal message and I will give you my phone number .

I know it's just two games, but the Bears are on! Just like a few years back. You said that you are a huge Gators fan, is that why you like the Bears too? Because of Rex? I would love to watch every game, but it's not possible, so if you have any good plan let me know. Are you from Chicago?

It is exciting to watch Grossman do well for the Bears but that is not why I'm a Bears fan. I have liked them since I was a kid, watching the 1985 super bowl champs.
I do not have plans at this time but...I will find out when the next game (Bears) is going to be shown at Salama's bar. We can meet up for some beers and watch the game then. I will get back to you on when the next game will be shown.

Cool, sounds great. I have no idea where Salama's bar is. I know that german beer is much better, but I don't know if it will be the same watching the Bears play and not drink a Miller or Bud light. There Super Bowl Shuffle is a classic, Jimmy Mac was the first Vanilla Ice and way ahead of Eminem.

I have not started my studies on how I will watch basketball just yet but...rest asure I will find a way to watch March Maddness (I'm hoping for back to back championships out of the gators). I don't really care for baseball all that much but I can look into it for you.

hey man I have been living in berlin for like 2 months and I am football starved I cant find it anywhere here. I went to some american bars and other english bars and they say they will play it "if there is nothing else on". What else could be better to watch than football? Anyway if you want to meet up to watch it I will be around give me a call sometime or send an email. I cant take it anymore, every year of my life I have watched football and this is the first year that I am missing it, damn it really sucks. Well hope to see a game soon.

hello everyone,
my boyfriend, myself and our dog just moved to friedrichshain a few days ago. I know this post is more geared towards football, but is anyone out there a baseball fan? I am a diehard NY Yankees fan (not one of those bandwagon jumpers, i'm from Jersey! haha. ) and my boyfriend is a Detroit Tigers fan. Even just after a few days we are going through major withdrawl. I guess it's ok, since it looks like both teams will be in the playoffs.
Any ideas on where to see baseball games?
We are looking forward to the next Toytown outing.
Talk to you all soon,

For those of you looking to watch NFL tonight in Berlin, here is the lineup on NASN and where Salama's is (the place that shows NASN in the back):
19:00 Washington vs NY Giants - NFL
22:00 Dallas vs Philadelphia - NFL
02:00 Pittsburgh vs San Diego - NFL
NASN EuropeFor Salama's:
Get off on U-bahn Frankfurter Tor (the U5 that starts at Alexanderplatz and goes to Hönow), go east on Frankfurter Allee, take a right (south) on Niederbarnimstr. and it will be on the left hand side about 4 or 5 places down.

Thanks to everyone who was there to share the glory. Great game.
Now is there anyone who can help in the quest to find a bar with SKY SPORTS where we can watch some of the other NFL games?
http://www.skysports.com/skysports/article...1025663,00.htmlIn particular the Sun Oct 15, Philadelphia Eagles @ New Orleans Saints matchup between superstars Reggie Bush and Donovan McNabb.
Most English and
Irish pubs in the city will have SKY SPORTS, but which one will agree to show this game? If anyone has a tip, let us know.

Hey,
If you guys/gals find a place to watch baseball, please let me know. I've been going through withdrawl for 6 months now, and wishing for some Fox Saturday baseball (and playoff coverage.)

I'm a Braves fan (mom & dad moved from Wisconsin to Georgia to follow the team) but seriously, after living in Utah 10 years, I'm not particular on the team anymore (as long as it's NOT THE YANKS!).

This message is obviously pretty late... but just to get the conversation going again. I've just moved over to Berlin and after 3 weekends of trying to find a bar that showed the NFL games I'm beginning to lose hope. (I did get to Salama's one week but I missed pretty much the whole game trying to find it). Where are the places to go? I'm living in Westend, Charlottenburg which seems to be about a hundred miles away from where things happen at night.
This is pretty a urgent request with the playoffs coming up!!

Agreed, Tom - I've missed pretty much the whole season, but I'm up for the playoffs.
Does anyone know if there's anything special on for the Super Bowl? I've been in London for each of the last two Super Bowls, and the big sports bars charge a cover fee and sell out in advance -- does anyone know if that happen in Berlin as well?

This is intended primarily for the the two posters that were fans of the University of Florida, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be arriving in Berlin on the 7th, and am desperate to watch the Florida-Ohio St championship game (which is on the 8th). If anyone can give advice on where i could catch the game, especially considering it will be on at the 2 or 3 on the morning, it would be very useful. Thanks in advance.

I spent a lot of time searching for good venues to watch NFL in Berlin, and I know of just two:
1) Salamas in Friedrichshein is a tiny dive sports bar that happens to show games carried on NASN. The place is crowded and the television screens are small.
2)
The Old Emerald Isle is a charming Irish bar in
Kreuzberg (Erkelenzdamm 49). They subscribe to Skysports which carries all of the NFL playoff games.
Emerald Isle has screens of various sizes. Which screen you get depends upon how chance and on how many of us show up to watch the game.
Call them a couple of day's in advance (030-6156917) and ask politely if they will be showing the game you want to see.
A group of us will be there next Sunday for the Eagles-Giants matchup.
If anyone knows of other alternatives, post them.

Update on the Emerald Isle: Charming Irish pub in a nice neighborhood in Kreuzberg.
They have big screens and Sky Sports for watching NFL.
They will show late night games if you ask them in advance and bring a group. They are less happy to stay open if there is just one or two guys watching the game.
