Extra costs of renting a house in Germany

What bills are involved besides the cold rent

As I only have experience of renting flats here in Germany, I have no idea of what the extra costs/bills might look like for a typical 4-5 room house besides the cold rent. A colleague at work suggested adding 250 Euros per month to the cold rent to cover the costs for heating, electric, water, waste-bins etc...

Anyway, if any of you out there have any experience of this it would be nice to hear from you.

Generally, you should reckon with €3.50 per square meter of living space for water/heating/gas. Keep your eyes on the gas prices, they're increasing at an alarming rate. It's your/the landlord's responsibility to clear the sidewalks of snow, so if you or the landlord hires a company that's extra costs. Take a good look into your contract to see if the landlord has passed that buck to you.

Thanks very much for this info.
At 3.50 euros per sq. meter costs can obviously mount up.
