Beer garden dinner - 6pm Saturday 2.Sep.2006

Sunny = Chinese Tower; rainy = HB Keller

Yeah I know theres probably a million things wrong with the title of this post but whatever. Im getting off a plane and as I'll be jetlagged, dopey and hungry, therefore, on advice of counsel, I'm going to a biergarten.

My astrologist, Toast, tells me the weather is supposed to be nice so Im aiming for the Chinese Turm, somewhere near the tower area. If its raining I'll hit the HBK = HofBrau Keller, somewhere sheltered. If someone has access and can bring along a flag, a guitar or another suitable marker, that would be grand. Please post up so people know what to spot.

Anyone who wants to pop up is welcome to join, bring your dinner, your friends (as long as they're not twats), your spouse(s), your kids if you like or leave em at home and just tell em your going to "church".

If people want to go earlier that would be great too, someone have someone change the title accordingly. I just planned on doing you people a favour and bathing before showing up. The things I do for you kids...If not, lets say location reconfirmed at say 5.00pm, assuming Ive made it to Munich in one piece. Oh and if the weather is miserable Im blaming Toast. biggrin.gif

PS: I'm getting on a plane shortly so wont be online again til tomorrow. Hope to see someone there. If not more for me, you rotten no good bastards.
bern
I'll be there! With bells on!
Panama
This looks interesting. I was discussing with a friend of mine the lack of vitamin b during the last few days. So if the weather is ok, hopefully Toast will be right, we may show up.
Jeeves
It will be even more interesting if Bern goes with the boots rather than the bells.
bern
Hehehe... Everything in moderation, dear Jeeves. Can't wear them everyday! They'd lose their charm. wink.gif
Renia
Plus she'd be further along the road to crippledom! tongue.gif

I thought Boots of Swiftness (they add a +1 to your dexterity score) never lost their magical properties on the prime material plane. Have you been astral projecting? Battling with elementals? (those boots could never survive cold or flame, unless you make your saving throw) Then again, with a wisdom of 9 and an intelligence of 11, what do I know? (15 charisma, though)
SleeplessInMunich
Spot the D&D fan anyone? biggrin.gif
Renia
Sounded more like Baldur's Gate... ph34r.gif
SleeplessInMunich
Oh okay then, AD&D if you want to split hairs. Probably 2nd edition rules.
Jeeves
+1 charisma to Mr Quark if he shaves off that beard.
I say that if I'm allowed to carry a Wisden round with me then UQ should be allowed a Dungeon Masters' manual.

PS: whilst you geeks are comparing your life points, say aye if your coming to Saturday dinner at the Biergarten. Anyone who shows up in a cloak, real or imagined, has to bring cookies. Its in the super fine print of the rule book.
Panama
Sunday? blink.gif is the jetlag affecting you already? huh.gif Or the title is wrong maybe?

, say aye if your coming to Sunday dinner at the Biergarten.

Sunday or Saturday, make up your mind...
Jeeves
I was just thinking that jml was going to whip us for dragging off topic when she gets back. Fine by me coz I'll be in Stuttgart. So I won't be there unless you're still there at 6 in the morning.
And it's Saturday tomorrow, not Sunday. The time difference is not that great.
jml
Yes you are right. Its pre jet lag. I meant Saturday. I'll go back and edit it. smile.gif

Yes, but it adds to my comeliness score (I play with that option) and my deity tells me to keep it. Be careful about throwing around the term 'dungeon master'. Don't want to mix the geek and BDSM crowds (and you all know who you are).

Oh, um, I'll probably be there jml (and I think you're a lawful evil, half-elf cleric).
Carm
hmm, a chance to have a good giggle with jml, can't pass that up.
benpanter
I'll be along...
UrbanAngel
I'll be there too, with food. Am I allowed to bring beer and wine to a beergarden too? wink.gif

Although I won't be wearing a cloak, I reserved a supply of cookies for Miss Jml.
Gen
no drinks can be brought to the beergarden, no, but all the food you want, yes. See you there!
Joliet Jake
I intend to stop by with a pair of Cookies, neither of which will be particularly edible. cool.gif
UrbanAngel
Ok Gen, I'll bring some food - you bring a partially empty stomach! smile.gif (I have some food but not loads if lots of ppl are going).
jml
Yeah, the weathers nice and Im getting cookies. smile.gif

Note to self: next time wish for cookies AND bars of gold. No too heavy...briefcases full of cash, real euros, not monopoly money. Check.
Panama
Well I'll bring a chocolate brownie. Not too big though, but hopefully enough for some.
jml
Okey dokey, as promised meetup reconfirmed for the Chinese Turm at 6pm. Everyone welcome. I think I almost everyone going so far, I dont have much by the way of a marker so Ive stolen a short
child's sippy cup. Note the cup is short not the child, well not as far as children go. Anyway it red with green turtles. It was either that or a can of corn, but really who walks around with canned corn in their pocket? On a more helpful note, Gen says you can also keep an eye out for her too. She looks like herself.

Cheers
:-)
jml
ps: I guess I get saturday moocher award as am not bringing anything. yous can share my fries though. smile.gif
Gen
I'll have a motorcycle helmet on the table, how's that? North side of the CT ok?
Carm
well, I will swing by MiniMal to pick up so good beersnack food then.
jml
Thanks everyone for the dinner especially all the people that brought along the delicious side dishes and desserts. Thanks as well for the ensuing hops to Starbucks, Schwabinger 7 and the Strasse fest. Only complaint, I didnt make my 10pm bedtime target. ph34r.gif
UrbanAngel
Well that'll mean that you'll be able to sleep well tonight and hopefully be not as jetlagged. Theoretically. I can feel my head might be hurting tomorrow morning after tonight :S
jml
well thats what you get for drinking that one last pellegrino for the road, lush.

ps: i dont think that was really caffeine free coffee. blink.gif
benpanter
blurrble blurrble... what a splendid evening. Thanks all.
pootle
ouch. it hurts this morning. whos idea was the jamesons?
bern
Hahah! For a change, I actually feel fine the morning after. laugh.gif

Lovely evening all. Despite the dive bar at the end of the night. Thanks to one and all for broadening my horizons. I'll make sure to buy a dog collar and leather pants before going back, though. Maybe then I won't be as intimidated. ph34r.gif

Schwabinger 7? cool.gif Darn, I knew I should have gone out last night. Oh well, sounds like you all had a great time.
Carm
Wow, I made it home in good time and got a great sleep. Maybe passing up the Schwabinger7 was a good thing then. rolleyes.gif

Tucas. The extra onions on the steak sandwhich was yours though. So the taste in your mouth is still your fault.

Well, that definitely wasnt caffeine free coffee. I finally fell asleep around 6.30 but at least I learned kebabs werent dodgy processed meat. Just dodgy unprocessed meat put in a lattice design to make the round thingy.
UrbanAngel
Morning all! I liked Schwabinger 7 - felt very homely to me. I think today will be a lazy Sunday smile.gif
Panama
Hmm, it seems I missed a lot of the fun. I knew I should have stayed later smile.gif Anyway it was very good also during the time I was there with ya all.
benpanter
Some photos...
Gen
beautiful pics Ben! I shoulda got in on the mugging.
Blimeygirl
Ben does your cam have fish eye? Cool pics of the tower and stations hehe.
Nadia
Bah. I'm going to eat some BBQ at Porgie's. So there, jml tongue.gif
benpanter
@Blimeygirl: Yeup. I've got all sorts of lenses, and that particular one is a Belarussian (Peleng) 8mm fisheye. If only I had a full frame DSLR rather than the one I have it would be a circular image, and 180 degrees field of vision both horizontal and vertical. The rest are with the stock lens, although some might be with a macro to get faster night pics, I don't remember.
