i want to get in contact with any local classic car enthusiasts, preferably mercedes fans... i've googled but not come up with much...

the background is that my father is currently restoring a 1971 mercedes 250 CS in ireland...

he is in need of a number of engine parts (camshaft, chain, valves etc) which the mercedes dealers, both in ireland and here, seem to be having trouble providing...

these are parts that you don't really want to take used from a scrapped car, so i want to find out if there are any specialists out there producing replacement parts for old mercs...

is anybody on the forum actively involved in with classic cars here? or even have a colleague or aquaintance who is?

as always, any help much appreciated...

My suggestion;

Pick up a copy of Oldtimer Markt, I think it's a monthly mag. It has lots of meeting details, etc.

If it was VW I could have helped (my brother-in-law runs a Dub Club) but Mercedes is a bit tricky as you are on the wrong side of the country frankly wink.gif
I'll be seeing 2 people who work for Daimler-Chrysler (neither in parts though) on Sat/Sun and will ask them if they have any tips, I'm not sure if it will bring much though.

Do a google.de search on Mercedes Clubs or something similar - I found a few message boards that included technical forums - perhaps somebody on one of those could point you in the right direction...
