The Rheingauer Weinmarkt - Frankfurt's only wine festival - shows that when it comes to festive tippling in Germany, it's not all vast tents and litres of beer.
Each year, vintners from the Rheingau, one of Germany's most important wine regions, present their products to connoisseurs and ordinary tipplers alike. There are over 600 different wines to taste in the beautiful Fressgasse (officially, Große Bockenheimerstraße, a small street in the heart of Frankfurt framed by exquisite food shops and cafés), the majority being tangy Rieslings.
Join the 300,000 visitors who come to the market each year and see a Germany beyond the Oktoberfest.

I won't be in town but in previous years it has been quite good fun so you should all go along.
