What th hell is back!
Today's rant is the foul taste of baby food. I am alone with the two at the moment (mostly its a doddle) but feeding is always messy.
So I set him in the Maxicosi where he can't get out, spoon and kitchen roll to hand.
First spoon goes in fine, then another, then another...
Then just after the next spoon goes successfully in he sneezes, thus sending food all over himself, his hands, and my T shirt.
I attempt to clean up the disaster but it makes an even worse mess. So I put some of it in my mouth. Blurgh!
Awful! No wonder feeding is a nightmare!

Uhm - was that baby food or something he sneezed out that you got in your mouth?!!?
I always found baby food ok. Now - maybe he's not eating the brand / food you got because it tastes like crap. If you won't eat it, why on earth should he ??

I don't know about baby food, but I used to eat my grandpa's pureed retirement home food when he didn't finish it (What can I say? I was a student...). It actually wasn't too bad. I liked it when they fed him turkey and cranberry sandwiches. They were yummy to drink.

You are aware of the fact, that the tins with a nice fluffy pussy cat on the front are not meant for babies...

I think the baby food desserts yummy (the savoury ones are mostly disgusting though) - having said that we very rarely bought baby foods, we normally made our own, but the jars of baby food are handy when travelling.
We had to buy extra packets of "Liga" though, cos I kept eating them all.
Yummy!

I still hold that some of that Hipp stuff, especially at the 8-month and 12-month stage, would taste really good as a topping for baked (jacket) potatoes.
There's one with fish and one with lamb and green beans that is quite tasty. You have to add a little salt in it for yourself, though.
I hear teenage girls are into eating baby food when they're dieting. It's healthy, organic, and you know exactly how many calories you're getting in a jar. Plus, you won't overeat if you just have the one jar.

I can't bring myself to try it- the idea of eating baby food makes me gag. The one time I ever stuck baby food in my mouth though was when I tested it to see if it was too hot or not. It was the Hipp meat and potatoes one-- like beef and potatoes or something and it tasted very much like beef stew. But I could never sit down and intentionally eat a jar of the stuff. Yuck.

Yup - that helped me lose a lot of weight when kiddo number 1 was little. When he moved up to bigger jars (8 months) but couldn't finish them, I would eat the leftovers. Not much was left, but enough to keep me from starving and from having to actually make myself something to eat. (Beef and brocolli wasn't bad, the fruits were best though, especially apricot - yum!)

Contains loads less added salt/sugar/chemicals than our food - so tends to taste very bland in comparison, I suppose. There's nothing worse than soggy rusks!

Too true - didn't believe it when my husband told me that the young women in his office were on this 'diet'!

Isn't baby food made in the mum's thingies?
Innocent little me

Mum's "thingies"? What? Like her mixing bowls?
Anyway, no, you're wrong. Mommies do not make baby food anymore. They've delegated that task to Dr. Claus Hipp.

I loved the little blue Heinz tins that you heat up in the saucepan. Baby feeding was never a problem because I usually ate all of it.
