And they couldn't afford a 2nd suit for the stunt double...

Spiderman is so enormously cheesy... I can't believe they made a sequel out of this crap. Except for "back to the future", which was perfectly correct in the sequels, I've never ever seen a good sequel of any movie... Spiderman the 1st was one big pile of sh*t, so let alone the sequel...

I agree with you Sparty, but I thought it was due to overuse of CGI and underuse of acting.

I didn't know there was any "acting" involved in the movie... even a random porn movie has better acting in it...

Alright you naysayers! A true Spidey fan will have a little faith in the movie/plot/acting/action and let the waves of suspension of disbelief wash over them and enjoy the ride.
Besides, it's the only really good action movie with Spider-man in it. Where else are we going to see him come to life?
Here is a
really bad Turkish film that has Spider-man vs. Captain America and- you guessed it- Santo the Mexican Wrestler. It looks like a laugh a minute!

Since when does spidey need a gun? or act the villan?

I agree that I didn't think Spiderman was great. Better than most other crap hero films at the moment (Hellboy was crap). But the shooting and spinning round a towerless NY was cool.
As for sequels - go see Shrek 2, I reckon it's better than the original. Also Terminator 2 was good and so were the Indiana Jones films. And I've heard Toy Story 2 was good as well.

re: Rocky II
Now I reckon if you watched Rocky II before Rocky, then you'd think it was better. But having seem Rocky first, I think Rocky is better.
I think this because they are essentially identical films. I don't think Rocky II was much worse than Rocky, because it was the pretty much the same film again.
After that though... oh dear. Although we did get "livin in america" from james brown and some classic cold war russian plots.

Well I saw Spiderman 2 last night. Gotta say I wasn't overly impressed - but then I'm not easily impressed at the moment. I did like it - but they tried to be too different or something - and there is one scene that is just totally ridiculous. I went with a friend who thought it was "boring".

Well there we are talking about sequels. Reminds me of the classroom scene in Scream 2 (exactly the same conversation and pretty much the same films mentioned)...
Anyways. Saw Spidey 2 last night and I thought it was ace. But then I like anything like that. Nice an extravagant and full of great flying-around-New-York-fighting-bad-guy action.
I mean. It's Spiderman. What more do we want? Great special effects, standard plot and a few surprises along the way. Perfect superhero stuff.
We will never see these films walk away with oscars for best acting/screenplay will we?
Enjoy!

Well I don't reallty want to give anything away so I won't respond in full - but are you sure we were at the same film ??? First one was miles better.
Edit: Hmm perhaps I'm being too harsh - I was in a bad mood and there were some great scenes, and the theme of the film really speaks to me at the minute (how sad is that ?), but overall I dunno, something was missing.

And there was the trailer for Catwoman. Now I'm sure it will be a terrible film -but it has got a huge plus. Halle Berry in super sexy, revealing leather cat-suits !! Miiiiaaaoooowwww!!!

Speaking of sequels, if you ever liked any of those Freddy, Jason, Scream movies...
Final Destination is a great film. The central evil that kills the teens one by one is only death itself and not some cooky supervillan. Then Final Destination 2 is by far the best sequel I have seen in years. (it has been years since Indiana Jones or Back to the Future, ps.) It is out on DVD now.
My brother says that SM2 is great, and he took his family to see it.

@Meckle.
I know what you mean. Something was missing, but all in all it was a better film. A bit darker than the first with a heavy amount of internal conflict. I think they got it just right. I just hope they do not make the 3rd film in the manner I fear they will...
Catwoman trailer...
Oh God. And the bloody Garfield trailer as well. How to ruin a perfectly good cartoon strip.
They will be doing a Calvin and Hobbes film next.. God help us all

Empire Strikes Back... the only movie George Lucas didnt get a chance to ruin.
Thank god there was a different director for that.
And I pray they discontinue the new starwars movies unless they get someone else to make it... its just too goddamn corny. They turned an enjoyable classic action adventure into a childish barrage of special-effects and fart jokes.

Hmmm - inclinde to agree on the new Star Wars flicks. The Clone wars wasn't too bad (although that may be something to do with Natalie Portman in her ripped white jump suit

), but the guy who played Anakin was f**kin useless - guy can't act to save his life.
Wrath of Kan was good. Personally I loved First Contact - nice and dark, and even if you hated star trek was a totally kick ass action movie in itself !!! Patrick Stewart was excellent -but then again he usually is.
Yeah that Garfield thing looked awful. And trust me Catwoman - sound terrible I konw...but Halle Berry in a cat suit !!!
Granted Toby Maguire is weird - there was some other film I saw him in that wasn't bad -and he was playing a total weirdo in that, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. Imdb to the rescue - Wonder Boys.
Did anyone see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ? THat was great - saw it a few weeks back.
