Hi
it is a document that you can get from your Kreisverwaltungsreferat (here are the infos.).
Will cost you 13€ and takes about 10 days. Munich City Council can only produce them for Munich residents, otherwise apply in your town of (German) residence, if you need one for Germany and do not live here you have to apply to the central Bonn office (Bundeszentralregister).
It is a summary of your criminal record (should you have one) with restrictions regarding spent offences (but that is a bit detailed for here).
Certain employers (state organisations, some emplyoment agencies which deal with government agencies/non-governmental organisations, banks, airlines, schools...) request these, not all do and you can also be requested to get one from your country of orgin/countries of previous residence.

I want to go back to the UK and do two months supply teaching there. But my teaching agency wants to see a German Criminal Police Check (post Soham I'm glad to hear it!). Can anyone tell me how a British national would get one of these? In Hannover or anywhere else normally. And maybe just... what´s it called in Germany? cool.gif

Many thanks

Fuhrungszeugnis?

Go to your Bürgerburo / Rathaus. They can initiate it for you. Takes a few days to arrive.

You need it for example if you are applying for a private pilot's license.

Proves very little of course. smile.gif

But can take up to two weeks or more to get depending on the workload of the Bundesgerichtshof in Bonn.

There are two types of Führungszeugnis. One is privat and one is for Beamte. You have to check which one you need. One can take longer than the other to get. I had a privat one done recently and it took 3 days.

PS: you got much money? wink.gif

Does anyone know where I can obtain a police conduct certificate?

I went to the Bürgerbüro today, but they had no idea what I was talking about. I also tried to go to the Police station, but I don't think my city (Bochum) has one!!

thanks

If it's what I think you mean then you need to go to the Rathaus and not the police.

It's basically a certificate to say you are who you say you are to allow you to work with kids etc?

This might help (quoted from a related thread):

It's called "Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis" I believe and they charge you an administrative fee of €13.
More information here (only in German tho): Führungszeugnis
You can just go to the KVR or your local Bürgerbüro.

And here's another such thread: Criminal records check from the police, How to get one.

They will ask you what you want it for (since I think there are at least two types). For example my son (then 17) requested one & they asked what for & he said "cos he was about to get his glider pilot's licence) - the lady looked most surprised & organised the simplest one for him which satisfied the requirements...

Wikipedia reference here. Re the two types - seems one sort is sent to you & other direct to an employer...

I need to get one of these thingies for my new job.

Does anyone know which area (name of area, or even just floor) at the KVR to go to to get this. I am hoping I can go to request it quickly on the Friday early (7am) opening as it is the only time I can get there outside work hours.

Thanks!
Mariposa
Here you go, Babs. http://www.muenchen.de/Rathaus/kvr/buergbu..._BB.html#BB_KVR

You can also request it by mail, you don't have to go there in person.

Actually only Munich has a KVR. In all other places, you can request one from the Local Rathaus.
All Requests are done on the Federal level and are processed by the Generalbundesanwalt in Bonn.
