Why are you happy today?

...because I'm back in sunny Bavaria (yes folks, you've got me to thank for the sun), because I'm on holiday, because the Wallabies showed those Boks what's what (okay, only just), because my daughter arrives for her holidays tomorrow, and because the future holds so many wonderful unknowns.

Because I went shopping at Viktualienmarkt today and paid about €12 for absloutely awesome stuff: Chicken drumsticks, roasting potatoes, fresh rosemary, a lemon, garlic and Reherl.

Oh, and I picked up Scogs' plaque afterwards. The inauguration date will be announced soon.

Because I had a fantastic day in Salzburg with two good pals laughing our heads off silly and eating like it was about to be banned, then a wonderful couple I know told me about the arrival of their kiddy, the future is looking kinda mysterious but exciting and to top it off we led a rebellion on the DB-Regio when the conductor told me to close the window because "es zieht" on the way back, so along with two pensioners we ganged up to pull the window down as often as possible when he wasn't looking, until he gave up.
The old couple cheered with us at that point also gave us a lovely and very smiley farewell when they left the train - there's life in the old buggers yet!

Cos i have a wok full of chilli festering away on the stove and permeating a wonderful aroma into the living room.

Another few hours tomorrow morning and it should taste magnificent for lunch.

Because it’s scorching hot day, I’m wearing shorts and flip-flops and I’m working on a laptop whilst sat under a palm tree in the garden of our Miami Vice looking office.

I made it thru my first day back after a wonderful holiday, and only have 3 more mondays til my next holiday, and then only 6 mondays til my next holiday and then 7 mondays til my next holiday! Sometimes things are looking up!

It sounds like some people get a LOT more holiday time than I do :-(

because OMFG... I can see BLUE SKY for about the 2nd time since I've lived here. There MUST be a god! And yes, I am outdoors... gotta love wireless.

WHY did a Californian agree to come live here again??? LOL

Because, for the first time since moving into my new apartment (a.k.a. flat) I can actually lock the door today. And the handyman who came to fix the lock had nice crinkly smiley eyes and curly brown hair It almost made the wait of many, many moons for the repair worth it.

Because I just wrapped the wedding present for my friend and I love wrapping presents!

Because I have a 9am flight back to the UK tomorrow to see my family and friends - my first proper trip back since I have been here - and my mum already has a pork pie and some black pudding waiting for me in the fridge :-)

Because about the same time yesterday, I was thinking about posting to the vent thread about my (lack of ) holiday plans. But voila, a few miracles later ( not least of which is a boss who granted me leave from his vacation island, long live RIM!), I am off to enjoy a real 'ass roastin' summer for two weeks.

Because I thought my washing machine was fecked but (I think) I've fixed it - yay!

I survived the day, had some nice patients, started the day off in a bad mood, but after seeing the people lining up across the street at the Dialysis unit (like I do every wed and fri morning at 6:30) I felt blessed for my health, then a really sweet old man started to cry in the chair, his wife of 50 years passed away last month, and he feels so alone in this world, not that I wish pain on others, but that is true suffering, and every so often I just step back and feel lucky for the good things I have in my life.
Now I am heading off to meet some wonderful people for a nice indian meal, another blessing in my life- my friends.

After a major crisis last night and a horrible confrontation (well sort of) with my horrible boss this morning, I ended up having a brilliant day. And I feel even happier knowing that no matter what the outcome of today is, I felt GREAT today!!!

I also had a great day today! For several reasons:

I finished my last day of work before two weeks in Tunisia.

I was forced to leave work on time for a tutoring session, which got cancelled in the end. Ususally before vacation I stay at work hours later to make sure all loose ends are tied up...

Thanks to Sarabyrd´s help in writing my letter to DT, I am getting back the money they owe me!

Also today I was victorious in my fight against the evil customer disservice agents of the world. After a two year fight which escalated to the person´s boss and then the boss´ boss and climaxed in an e-mail which I ended with "I expect to have my money tomorrow, in cash", I have gotten my money back! All 40 euros of it

Oh, and I am happy for my friends who are happy and doing well.

I am happy that I made someone else happy without so much as a touch.
*Actually, I am frügging pissed off that the only person who wants my house won't take over the kitchen and I have to sell it for 15% of its value but Ruthie's gratitude made me feel better momentarily.*

I'm happy I stood up to my pushy trainer when he insisted I do my tricep push ups by resisting and not doing them.

I'm also happy this time next week I'm heading to Vancouver to catch a ship to sail in Alaska. I will do a lot of hiking, glacier watching and learn how to fish and just coexist with the amazing Alaskan nature. This is one of the few places I love to go for solitude.

Poor Tate just got the snip (or as some of like to call it- strategic surgery) last week. All he gets is Rimadyl and me saying 'no' and stopping him whenever he goes to lick himself!
