Because yesterday I spent 3 hours shopping, tried on like 15 different dresses, and didn't really like any of them (that made me feel kind of down), and today it took me an hour and trying on three dresses, out of which I loved two!

I decided to buy both to see which one my mom and best friend like best but now I've decided to keep both (seeing as I would have returned the cheaper one anyway).

I also got the wedding present for my friend and got a really witty idea for wrapping it! I love wrapping presents! (The dress(es) are also for the wedding.)

Because this time tomorrow I'll be in Berlin at Diane Krall's concert.
I'm also happy I was able to make a difference in the life of several young children by introducing them to the piano and letting them try to compose a song. They had never touched a keyboard before and had so much fun playing on the piano. The sheer joy on their faces was awe inspiring and it was amazing just how well they played because we have been listening to classical piano music.
It's unfortunate children don't have more exposure to playing instruments during their childhood.

General definition: Happiness is putting on washed and ironed blue jeans that you haven't been able to wear for a few months and you don't have to suck in your tummy and hold your breath to zip them up.
Today, however, I am happy because I set up the new mobile handset with the existing phone after going through at least six different PINs until I remembered the obvious one that Scogs had set six years ago. Being methodical may be boring and pedantic but it sure does come in handy.

Because Cleo, the newest feline addition to my almost exclusively female menage, found her way home (almost, missed out by one garden and was yowling at the neighbors' door) after giving Cat (= daughter) the slip yesterday afternoon. Also, I am happy because I am not at home right now as Cat has informed me that Cleo just won't stop talking about her adventures what with staying out all night and seeing other cats and finding the field where Emily the Mighty Hunter hunts her mice and dodging cars and sleeping under a bush etc. meowmeowmeow!

Because I've just become an auntie for the second time within a fortnight - baby Isabella is a bumper 9lbs 4oz (ouch!) and first saw the light this afternoon in Wellington, New Zealand.

Because a good friend just told me she is pregnant!!! Must admit I am not very surprised even though they're not really taking their time. Her sister got married in May 2007, a day later her boyfriend of not even a year proposed to her, they got married in September. Then her sister had her first baby in May, and she got pregnant in June. I see a pattern...

Still happy for her and her husband though, and I hope I will be able to visit some day.
Because finally the ex-wife and birth-mother of my children has agreed that they can come to Germany and see Dad and his new life.
The kids are bouncing and I'm quite overwhelmed.
Congratulations , that must be a great great feeling.
I'm so happy I get full access to my kids and I do wonder what would happen if that ever went belly up.

Heh. I learned my lesson earlier this spring: one musn't forget to put suncream round the edges of one's swimsuit bottoms, else you end up with a burnt bum. Not an experience I recommend to anyone. Especially if you have to spend the next day on a Jeep safari bumping through the Sahara on a hard plastic seat.

Has anyone else ever had one of those days where everything goes so badly at work that you just feel like throwing up? My day has been like that. My past 2 weeks have been like that. Except for tonight- when I felt especially like hanging myself... suddenly it all seemed to turn out ok again. Bizarre. But in a good way.

Reminds me of when I bought an English-language mid-1980s version of Trivial Pursuit at a German yard sale two years ago for one euro. We play it all the time ... and are routinely beaten by our bilingual >10 year-olds

I just remember how at the time in the US, this particular Canadian game was the most expensive board game ever marketed (c. US$25) ... but clearly packed more play value than all our others combined.
That said, Battleship, Scrabble and chess still retain timeless appeal

I found a tree next to the Lech that looks like a real live acid-trip the way the water reflects off of the branches and leaves. It's mesmerizing. Ahh the glory of nature.
