Because after 2 years of intense searching, I finally found (and was offered) an excellent job (in my chosen profession) in the US (Texas, actually). I'll be leaving Germany for the first time in nearly 20 years in about a month.

Thanks! I've been stuck in a "TERM" (not temporary, but not permanent either) low paying job trying to hold out for what I really wanted. Now with my community closing, I was really worried it would close before I found something (after I already turned down a job in PA last month due to their unwillingness to pay the moving costs). I was just days away from working out a contract agreement with my former contract employer in Iraq as a safety net.

Haha, well I would pick Texas over Iraq any day, too. Congrats on getting the job. Where exactly will you be moving in TX? No exactly a small state.

my shoulder and neck stopped hurting, have a clean apartment, enjoying Grey's Anatomy (in German) and a good bottle of Chianti, and in less than 24 hours my brother is here to visit for the weekend.
I have realized who my true friends are, and feel good about that, life in my world is good at the moment.
and next week, I head to my fav place in the world! Finland.

I've been there twice (for a week each time) for in/out processing on my way to Iraq as a contactor. I don't foresee it being a bad experience. I won't brush up on my Spanish. I learned German to live in Germany so "they" can learn English to live in the US. If I cross the boarder into Juarez, I'll try and speak Spanish.
Bliss, being the "Home of Air Defense Artillary" does have lots of Germans there for training (and some working permanently in various training units). I also have LOTS of friends there. A few of them are checking out apartment complexes that I found on the net to see if they are as good as the pictures on their sites. This should be a smooth transition.
But you can count on me finding any place to buy anything German. I'll miss my bread, for sure. But there are so many cooking/food items that I will miss as well. But damn, it'll be good to be back in the states again (even if only for a year of two before I plan on being back here).

I am happy because my brother, sister-in-law and their baby will visit us on Sunday. She is almost nine months old now and creeps/slides around on the floor gnashing her seven teeth and pulling on cables. The baby, that is.

Yeah I have heard from my best friend that there are storms in Germany. So strange that here it is so nice at the same time.
coz its my bday and i'll be going out tonight
even though its monday, and my brother flies back to Canada today, I really enjoyed the weekend with him, and just hanging out with him, and he got to meet some of the wonderful people in my life here in Munich. And the winds have die down some, so I will not worry about his flight.
Thanks to a few of my girlfriends that took him out with them saturday night, he has no idea where he was, and did make it home around 3 am... after he got lost on the ubahn and took a taxi.
All and All, life looks really good now. (that can change once the work day really starts. lol!).
I've just spotted I can drive to work in daylight and drive home in daylight for the first time this year. Summer is on the way...
