Also, my baby is asleep. Chocolate and quiet. Heaven!

Because I have news from my son, and even though he has chosen to join the U.S. Army as a lifer (well, until 42) I am happy that he has an aim in life and is working hard on his BA in Social Sciences. Seems I did something right after all. Now to work on Haggis Junior, my local dropout ...
P.S. And because I forgot to go to the bank yesterday but the salesperson at Müller gave me a semmel and a pretzel anyway and told me to pay on Monday.

1. It is my Ma's 70th birthday and I just spoke to her on the phone for half an hour.
2. Haggis Junior landed a babysitting job and handled it well.
3. I went to the hairdresser's for this first time in almost a year.
P.S. The last item is conditioned because when the guy blow-dried my hair I ended up looking like Hilary Clinton. Am I that obvious?

its kind of twisted, but I had a patient today that has to be treated under Full Sedation, and cannot take any pain meds, she is on the methadone program, she grew up in one of Munich's richest families, had everything someone could ask for, and still decided to shoot heroin. I guess I am happy because even though I have had tough times and suffered depression, I am healthy and haven't thrown my life away. Really puts things into reality for you.

Mentioned this in a previous, but wrong post. Got a great little place with wooden laminate flooring and built-in kitchen to rent for cheap in the countryside 10 min from Darmstadt and 30 min from FFM with DSL connection and a great landlord, who has chosen us as his tenants even though we're still in South Africa. He has already offered us the use of his car and a trailer to fetch stuff we're planning to buy from Ikea or wherever and put up curtain railings and light fittings that the previous tenants took down when they left. Not only that, but he has offered to erect a fence for the dogs so that they have a secure garden area for when we're out. And it was the very first place we applied for. Viva Sigi Starke und viva Deutschland!

My wife's starting her job on March 1 and I'm joining her halfway through April, because I have to wait for the dogs' vet certificates. The rabies antibody cultures take 3 months to yield results, hence the delay. At least they don't have to stay in quarantine for 6 months!

Was seriously workin' and all of a sudden, I got to hear this loud music from somewhere around. I figured out that its a 'Ladies Day Out' for Fasching. They were all masked and dancing wildly and embarrassing people by hugging or kissing or slapping 'em. I was a bit curious and excited after all the passive stuff that I've seen, since I've been here. Some ladies entered into our office too and then tried distracting the folks out here. I was approached by someone with a mask and then She hugged me and took off the mask, kissed me and went away.

Looks and sounds like a fest. So, I've this festive mood. yeaaaah !

Came home and started cleaning and organizing my livingroom, and now, its all clean, almost organized, might need a quick trip on saturday to Toom or OBI for a small shelf or something for all the books, but, I really like what I have done with my living quarters.

Where do I start.
Because tomorrow is the start of the 6 nations. I'm baking pies (Jamie's recipe from last night) for the in between matches break.
My eldest got a 1 in maths and has been diagnosed as possibly having a schreibschwäche (where did he get that from eh??) which will help with the school grades.
I've taught my youngest to ski, he loves it and tomorrow it will snow which will make the family Sunday ski day even better.
My new steam iron is also awesome and my shirts are looking great.

Oh, it gets even better. I am getting breakfast in bed! They brought me my laptop so I could work and told me not to leave the room since they have a surprise.
In the meantime the little one has come in to get the bathroom scale (!?!). I guess the German cookbook has been pulled out. And I've been asked how much chocolate goes in my coffee... At least I heard one say to the other to use soap after I reminded them to wash their hands. I've only heard two things drop so far...
Last time they did this it involved crackers with cheese microwaved onto them - the cheese had fused with the plate it had been in so long - and chocolate powder on top!
See the unhappy thread when I go into the kitchen later, or even later possibly, since they are home and not in hort today because they have colds ...

I had a great, relaxing yet fun weekend. Then I woke up this morning on time and feeling fresh (a rare occurrence for me), made a detour on the way to work to stop at Bagel Brothers and buy bagels for my office (partly as an apology for being sick last week and partly to marvel in the German confusion as to what a bagel is, where it comes from, and how one eats it), and now I'm at work rocking out to 94,5. Doesn't get much better.

I survived my intense dance step aerobic class even after the trainer announced that the class was going to be very hard. My heart rate was up to 150 plus beats which far exceeds the range for my age. I'm grateful I didn't have a heart attack or stroke as I'm getting too old to be jumping around like this. Then after this class I managed to do my power barbell lifting class for one hour. I will sleep very well tonight, that's for sure!

I am happy because my new supersize frying pan has curved sides so I can flip fried potatoes one-handedly without effort. And it still fits into the dishwasher.
i survived the night!
doesn't sound like much, but having a dog recovering from a broken leg, another dog, and then a dog that i think is mixed border collie and ploughhorse at times it was a challenge. Broken leg dog must walk at a snail's pace. Plough horse border collie was doing his ploughhorse thing. I was trying to remain upright since 5/6ths of the sidewalk is full of ice!
Also, last night I had a very nice phone call. It's nice talking to people who you don't see often. It's also nice when he is patient with your severe phone issues although he's had a long day, sprained, ankle, has a cold, and needs to get up early for all the running around and that stuff of basic training the next day!
oh and today is payday (too bad the check is entering my account and leaving simultaneously to go pay off other stuff)!
because I have some wonderful friends, I made it thru the week with a nasty cold, ordered a new night table, and got everything straightened out at Ikea with my bed.
Tonight I am joining some wonderful people for chinese food for Chinese NewYear.
I have had alot of people trying to knock me over lately, but thru postive thoughts and energy, I am able to get past their pettiness.
And its the weekend.
