sarabyrd
I am happy because my hyper-sensitive German co-worker who can't stand second-hand garlic is back after being hospitalized for three months.
Saint
You're happy about that?
sarabyrd
I missed her and the conversations we have. Besides, I got saddled with things that she usually does. And I am happy that she is well enough again to work.
Saint
Ah, OK I understand better now. I thought you meant "hyper-sensitive" in general. I guess it was just about the garlic. She wouldn't like me then. I live off garlic wink.gif
Jeckel
Because I FINALLY have a job with internet at work! Happy me biggrin.gif

You should cook her some potato salad of yours smile.gif
Mariposa
Karma... smile.gif I talked to my former roommate on MSN yesterday (still debating whether to delete her or not), because she said hi to me, and I asked her if my former landlord has already found a "replacement" for me, and she said no. I asked her because in case he did, he should have refunded me part of the rent of October but since he didn't I won't get any money back (and I checked Loquo, which is like Craigslist, there really still is an ad for the room online which was posted yesterday), but seeing as it is now the 6th, that means he is losing money every day that he does not find anyone for my old room (€80 already for the first six days). What do they say about Schadenfreude? wink.gif
Would it be evil of me to hope it will take him at least another week to find someone new? laugh.gif
Jack
Cos the weekend is smiling at me. rolleyes.gif
Eleanor Rigby

Cos it is hot as a hot thing in Dubai and last night we found the expats hangout here, The Barasti Bar which happens to be right on the beach, oh yeah. tongue.gif
Mariposa
My neighbor made me laugh when she told me the only words she knows in German are "ja" and "Kartoffel". How random... laugh.gif
Jenny L
Because as miserable as this whole trip to Dubai has been, the only thing that has really made me laugh was watching bluedave get sprayed with shit water. biggrin.gif
hams
Shame you didn't enjoy it - hoping it was work as opposed to the place itself which is truly amazing with regards to its development and technologically innovative and ground breaking construction/architecture.
Renia
I really love Dubai too and the food is incredible! So, what happened?
HEM
My photo is in local newspaper today. Not under "most wanted" - rather I was interviewed about gliding.

Wish such things would happen at the beginning of flying season rather than at end when PR-effect is close to zero!
bluedave
The only problem here in Dubai is the scarcity of taxis to get around and the poor organisation at the show itself, meaning you can queue as exhibitors for over an hour to get in the show and it can take up to 2 hours to get a taxi to get back to the hotel afterwards. Otherwise it's a great place as are the bars. smile.gif
Renia
I am surprised to hear about the taxi situation, but haven´t been there in such a busy situation.
eurobabs
I am happy because one of my really good friends came out to meet with me even though she was not feeling well. I REALLY appreciate that (and her smile.gif )
Schotte
i just egged on a colleague in the canteen to go and chat up a total stranger. failed miserably but he still did it. cant help but feel almost wholly responsible for his actions. smile.gif

respect.

Sorry, should have clarified my first post better. Dubai is a fantastic city. I love the architecture, the restaurants and pubs, the shopping, the customer service here is phenomenal... The miserable part of the trip has just been the work side. wink.gif It's all quite time consuming so I haven't had much time to really get to explore the city.

Yeah, I think it's just the air show that's put taxis in high demand.

Anyway, my happy news for today is that last night I got to go to a super cool business dinner/party thingy for the air show people and Diana Ross was there as well as the Ruler of Dubai.

TexasLauren
Way to go, Cupid.

And I'm happy because I just polished off a pile of pfannkuchen mit nutella...yum.
Schotte
She replied immediately with a "not interested". sad.gif

never mind, God loves a trier.

Moving on... I'm happy cos i keep getting emails today from someone who clearly has the hots for me. its doing my ego no end of good wink.gif
sarabyrd
I am happy because my two-day-conference is over and I managed to not fall asleep during the passages not applicable to our Munich office. And because everyone here is not just superficially friendly but really wants to know about life in Munich as opposed to Texas (better beer but distinct lack of ocean beaches).
Schotte
i just had some pukka coooookiess, 'mercan style biggrin.gif

Not the kind where you can dabble your feet on Armistice Day and enjoy it.
