Because I finally got my Zwischenprüfung in Romance Lit (my friend went and applied for it for me today) and because I was finally able to send the certificate saying I am staying in BCN for two semesters instead of one to my school in Germany, and now just have to talk to the Erasmus director next Thursday to make it final.

That is some weight off my shoulders, though my battle with bureaucracy continues so stay tuned.

Of course also because my weekend has just started. I love the Philology department for not having classes on Fridays!

went to listen to my favorite dog trainer/behaviorist! i also talked to her about her up coming trip to Germany and now am supposed to email her and get her in contact with my former boss!!! YAY!!!
I was giddier (is that a word? more giddy?) than a kid in a canyd shop combined with a kid at christmas!
It completely turned the blah day around and momentarily made me forget about the new found behavior issue with Merlin, the foster dog.
If only my stupid "day job" would've let me have off the week after the one they gave me i could attend the conference near Chiemsee! grrr
oh well- happy, happy, estactic from meeting and talking to Patricia McConnell. I can only think of a handful of things that would render me this happy!

(hopefully this memory will keep me going through the next stressful 1.5months)
edit two or so hours later:
I would also like to add i'm happy because my dirndl still fits! I tried it on because tomorrow one of my roommates is heading up to the o-fest in our state in the city she went to college in- Oktoberfest in LaCrosse, WI. I told her she could borrow my dirndl, but she declined the offer, but wanted to see me in it so i put it on! it fits, a bit tight right above the belly button but ehh no prob still fits fine- YAYYY!!! (the first happy reason though is still the best!)

I'm happy I survived my pilates class today without needing an ambulance. I've been "missing" from the class the last two Sundays. My trainer said "struggling to do the exercises today was the bill I was paying for missing her class for the last two weeks". I'm also happy the sun is shining and it's 22 degrees.

Because I gave up my seat on the U-Bahn to a pensioner and she was shocked, happy and just plain old tickled that someone cared.
And we had a nice wee natter all the way to Rotkreuzplatz and she waved me off smiling.
Was having a rough day until that but the internal grin it gave me (and the external one to the lady) perked me up no end.

Just to balance all the bad news: I have cleaned my bathroom to the gleaming point, I did not suffer from last Sunday and my mother is arriving tomorrow.

Because after months of just being busy busy busy I took time out of the world and spent yesterday afternoon with my son just playing conkers (with strings from my football boots as well!), drinking ginger ale and eating salt and vinegar crisps. a copy of the beano wouldn't have gone amiss. no matter what your worries and responsibilities and problems, seeing the world with the shinny frseh excited eyes of a 9 year old again is just fab...

My 7 year old had me building lego. We are mad into this very simple "football tag" game in the garden. Player with the ball has to tag the next by kicking the football and hitting them (any body area counts). Our house is a magnet for local kids so the game tends to get a bit busy.

Because just when I got home today I thought, what day is today? I realized it is Thursday and that means my weekend has already started because I don't have classes on Friday. I hadn't even thought of that until just now so it is like a surprise weekend! Haha.
And because my extension is finally through, and I told my landlord I will move in a month, and he just said "vale". No big discussion and I am out of here [this apartment, not the city] in a month.

Have i ever told you how much i admire you and what a good friend i consider you to be Allers?
Not only have I eaten heaps of good free food today at work (helped work a workshop for exam review and it’s the end of customer service week so ASQ gave us all free food), but I just got back from listening to a coworker’s engagement story—so sweet!
I returned to my cubicle from the boardroom where I’ve been all day and had an email from her saying- wire transfer is in so I’m ready for the paperwork. Please bring it down instead of interoffice because you’ll like this.
Confused, but not going to refuse a reason to get out of my cubical and sitting like an animal in my cage I lalalaed my way down the stairs to her floor and her cubicle. Well, she got engaged! Awesome fun story of her and her bf’s (now fiancé) trip to NYC and things.
After a long crap week at work the free food and her excitement, happiness, and cute/sweet story made the work week end on a good note (and helping me ignore my horrible headache)!

I am happy because I got blitzed for the first time in 22 years yesterday. Assuming that the fine is €30 that makes it €0.11 per month of driving. That thought makes me smile.

Cos i've had a wonderful 'me time' evening, lay on the sofa watching X Factor and Rebus, interrupted by a delicious delivered Vindaloo from the Ganesha. Can't remember the last time i felt so thoroughly relaxed.
This, after having a really good week at work where we achieved some real progress, giving rise to the feeling that previous efforts may not have all been in vain.
