I am happy because work is sending me to headquarters in Houston for Accounting training in November. This time I will rent a car, meet up with my aunt Sharon and drive to the coast!
mere
aweseom! have fun. November seems to be a good month! i'm happy because in Nov. I'll be in Germany.

Oh, and i'm also happy because today is someone's (not mine) birthday! wub.gif
Tara
Ok, it didn't so much make me happy as amused but this morning while having breakfast at the Hilton in Bucharest, who walks in and sits at the table beside me but David Hasselhoff. He was looking rather ragged and talking really very loudly to another american guy.

I was happy last night because it's autumn and the leaves have turned. The drive home is gorgious.

As it's now P**ing it down it's not so nice. I love Bavaria on a sunny autumn day.
prijks
Another vote for November is looking like a good month: I'm psyched because I just bought plane tickets for a visit to the US in November. Gonna get to see a bunch of family and friends!

parsnips are on sale in the local market! :-) I was down in Munich today with some time to kill so I stopped by the viktualianmarkt and found some, which made me really happy. I got back to Freising and on the way to the bank I passed by the local market, I still needed some stuff for salad making so I popped in and they had parsnips too! Made my day, this means I can do a big feast with parsnips over the weekend.

I just hope the little lady likes parsnips as much as I do.

Another session has started and i survived the first class.

Unfortunately it looks like i'm going to have a battle with one or two of my students. We definately do not agree on the best way to train a dog. drop kicking it and whacking it with a fly swater aren't really the best training techniques. Unfortunately he's a good 20 or so years older than me and i have to try to act "professional" so when he says "i ain't gonna" i'll have to mentally suffer.
I guess this is karma getting back at me for being iffy about Southern Rednecks...

The happy news is that a few of my favorite students are back and someone worked with Merlin while i taught the advanced class and he did awesome! in 4 weeks going from no name, heaps of issues and knowing nothing to now only a few issues and knowing enough to be able to be a demo dog for Basics and quasi participate in Advanced-yay!

à propos drop-kicking dogs ...

I just had fun looking at a Bibi Blocksberg thing and also the Maus.

Hmm… I think I’m getting a bit old to be obsessed with kid books and games and things. Does anyone have a kid for me to borrow?
We’ll color and read and go on bike rides. Also play with Bibi and the Maus on some of the games online (KiKa and the maus’s website).
DDBug
2 - I have 2 you can borrow. Any time you want. biggrin.gif

I’m happy because my dog is a trooper! Brennan doesn’t have any major damage done to him from the evil lady’s attack at the dog park, but if I had his injuries I’d be whining none stop from the pain! He has a strained something or other at the base of his tail, some bruised vertebrae, and bruised ribs. Although painful, nothing super major (nothing that can get worse) or expensive!

Having helped a vet with a behavior issue with one of her dogs she helped me by looking at him and giving him a shot to relieve the pain for the weekend and by the time it wears off he shouldn’t have that much pain anymore. Good thing Bren doesn’t have a fear of large needles (the only one that we had to use was meant for a foal- the vet mainly visits farms. She’s a large animal vet, but also will deal with the smaller animals on the farm).
Carm
because a girlfriend of mine sent me a sms late last night (early today) that she finally gave birth to a little girl. Looking forward to seeing the baby next weekend.
Mrs Peel
...because despite being at Wies'n for a long time yesterday, I don't have a hangover! Yay!!
Schotte
cos Scotland are gonna pump the kiwis today!!

I am happy too. It was two years ago when I first introduced myself to Toytown. But since then I have written so little or read so little on this site. Thats because I did not have a computer at my residence I had to bring my laptop from work on the weekends just to browse internet. Now things have changed, I have a computer at home and I can log on to Toytown site at will. And that makes me happy.

...because despite being at Wies'n for a long time yesterday, I don't have a hangover! Yay!!

And I had the bestest day with you, your man (and his wife and his other wife!!!), butterbean, seb... beer in 3 tents (Ochsenbraterei, Käfer, Armbrustschützenzelt), the end of the rugby with cb4ach and the TR crew then the Police live in concert doing "I can't stand losing you" seen for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee with cb4ach.

If life gets better than days like that, I'm not sure I can cope! biggrin.gif

I'm happy to find the time today to check out what's up on TT. I'm also happy because I just spent the last 24 hours in Ingolstadt with a great friend of mine from Munich who is leaving on Tuesday for two weeks on a business trip.
James_Runner
My introduction to Wies'n was marching in the parade yesterday, and I was briefly on TV. ohmy.gif
Renia
I just woke up from a dream in which I had just started a very embarrassing and stupid thread on TT and I am happy now because it is not true!!
Katrina
Because there's a chestnut tree outside my office window with tons of conkers on the ground.
And a older chap just went and picked some up and tucked them into his pocket.

It's good to know that there are some things you never grow out of and that I'm not the only one who goes home with a pocket full of conkers...
bluedave
Not seen anyone play conkers here though.
Renia
Don´t you have to tie them up with string? Remember reading about this in some Enid Blyton book or something...
bluedave
Drill a hole from top to bottom and tie a big knot in the string.

Here ya go.
DDBug
My oldest learned how to play conkers the other day, 'bout whacked himself on the head in the process though! rolleyes.gif

I taught DDBugs son to play on Sunday, still hurts I can tell you and he won. blink.gif
Renia
Ah, drilling a hole, I thought you had to tie the string round! Thanks for the insight BD, my kids will love this, we have a conker tree in our hof.

Edit: It says make a hole through the middle. Has to be done with a drill? and parent´s help? What did they do in the "old days"?
DDBug
Kiddo used a nail and a hammer on his.

Pity about your coffee table wink.gif

I have surprisingly been greeted withsome really nice wishes from some new people in my life.

and getting tips always boosts my spirits. (Old men tend to be very generous)

Today Js. Gilberto stopped by. It was fun to meet one of the Country Councilor’s who I deal a lot with (he's from the Dominican Republic). It was also funny for him to say that in the short time I’ve been here he’s already seen an improvement in the quality of the translated exams from before I dealt with them to now. oops... he said that right in front of my boss.

Also, one of my co-workers received some homemade tostada’s from her friend down in customer care. She asked if I wanted one- sooo amazingly good! Great blend of flavor without it being too powerful and good juicy chicken. Yum!

I decided I need to cheer myself up, so here is what makes me happy:

- That my best friend in the world was here for the past four days. Hadn't seen her since April.
- She brought me a Starbucks Munich mug, now I can see the Frauenkirche on my desk.
- I fell in love with Gracia (a part of Barcelona), in fact I found that I really love most parts of BCN (that I have seen) better than the Ramblas/Raval/Barri Gotic part. I want to move to Gracia. It has so much character. Barcelona is quite the beautiful city after all if you leave the area around Pl Catalunya. And Gaudí may have been a bit crazy but amazing! I love his work here in the city.
- That I am not as German as that obnoxious German guy who we ran into at a restaurant here.
- That the weekend was absolutely amazing, sunny and beautiful even though it was predicted to be rainy.
- That I took many many pics over the weekend.
- And that saw two movies in English! And one in German tonight that I had downloaded.

Life isn't so bad after all. Yep.
Carm
went to one of my bosses birthday party tonight, he turned 60, and the other docs bought him a motorcycle, and they all went parchuting... now we might be doing that as a praxis ausflug! cool!
And I discovered today that some patients really like me, and I got about 150 Euro in tips. Kind of funked my out of my blues I was in.
DDBug
Woo - hoo! My kiddo got the highest reading score in the school - and he is the only non-native speaker!! biggrin.gif

I guess I'll let him buy his computer game after all

Since my roommates are gone i can let the dogs be a spaz and run around! the little one seems to be on speed and just randomly tearing back and forth.
This is nice. I can get caught up on a few DVRed TV shows, read, make/eat dinnner, and knit my boyfriend's scarf without worrying about the dogs pissing off the roommates or taking them outside for long sessions of fetch or long walks. Every dog owner deserves to have one evening off knowing the dogs are fine and getting everything they need (since they're both energetic they're burning it off playing and later it'll all be calm and i had an evening to get my own stuff done too!)
bluedave
I want to give mere some paragraphs to make her even more happy. smile.gif
mere
boo who needs paragraphs? completely overrated!

One of the roommates came home, 3.5-4 hours early! There went the happy evening. grr.

I'm happy because it's Thursday and it's the closest day to Friday smile.gif .

It's nearly Friday and Wiesn time again!! I hope I don't get 'swollen hand from holding a heavy Maß' again!!
